Default Screen brightness issues with the Pearl

Please Login to Remove!

i Just upgraded to the blackberry pearl(black) thru T-mobile, the first phone i recieved i noticed that when you are using the phone the screen does not turn on to full brightness. After a certain time it will come on to full brightness or just might not. I called t-mob and they walked me thru a few steps, asked me to check diplay timeout and screen brightness level(it was 30secs and 100% brightness). So they sent me a new phone. This one has the same issue too :(
Is this normal with the Blackberry or have i received another defective handset?

The flashing LED in the upper right of the front panel also appears to house the light sensor. If you cover that up (with your ear while talking), the Pearl thinks you are in a dark environment and reduced the screen brightness. It takes a few seconds for the sensor to affect the screen. Hold it under a light and cover it with your finger, and you'll see. So maybe thats it.

cheers
