Look Inside my 8700!

I just love being an IT guy.
I had a broken 8700 come in so I took it apart so I am passing my info along for you.
Pic 01 - There are three T6 screws. Unscrew them. Okay, the red arrows in this picture are pointing to small little clips. You would need to use a small flat head screwdriver or something like that to stick in there and lever the clip toward the inside of the BlackBerry. It's pretty easy and does not take any force to get these unclipped. You will know when you get them.
Pic 02 - This shows the big plastic piece we just removed laying on to the left. There are 4 more screws you can remove and that will release the second plastic piece. I didn't indicate it with the arrows, but the small battery contact and black plastic piece around the USB plug will probably just fall out when you lift this piece. It's no big deal - they will go back in but there is nothing holding them in place when this plastic piece is removed.
Lift from the base of the BB to remove the second plastic piece.
Pic 03 - Now that the 2nd plastic piece is removed, you can see the circuit board. The board will just lift out - there are no other screws holding it.
Pic 04 - This is a pic of the circuit board (and display) lifted from the plastic front. You can see the keyboard from the back, the keypad circuit and the display. The display is held by simple little clips (4 of them) and a small little connection attaching the display to the circuit board.
Pic 05 - This blurry pic (my camera sucks) shows the display screen removed from the main circuit board.
I was able to put the whole thing back and, despite the broken screen, it worked. I also took apart another working 8700 to fix a small problem with the ESC button and it is working like a champ.
I hope you find this interesting. I sure did.

Thanks-
About a week ago some Grand Marnier was spilled on my 8700c. I immediately dried it off with a napkin but after a few days but the sugar began to harden and the side buttons were sticking and it made some creaking noises at the case seams.
Your photos & instructions helped me to tear it down, clean it up and bolt it back together without a single scratch or question about "where did that part come from?"
Thanks!

I took everything in the house apart also. Some I got back together and some of those even worked. Always extra un-needed parts.

Great info, thanks. Did this to help dry one that had been "moisterized"
Question, now that its back together, display won't work. The conenctor just slips up into the slot, correct? Didn't see a trick to make contact.

That was great. Thanks for your efforts. I just replaced the screen inside my 8700 using your pix as a guide.
