Hi All,

we are currently planning messaging system migration for one of our clients from exchange 2003 to exchange 2010.

They are using BES and it is deployed on same server as that of exchange 2003. The plan is to migrate their messaging system to Exchange 2010 and then decommission the current server.

Decommissioning the current server means that BES will have to get migrated / moved as well.

Personally, I dont know much about BES and its working. I am just concerned how exchange migration can effect blackberry users. What should I consider about moving BES. Will it be sensible to move / migrate BES or will it be better to just install BES on new server from scratch, before migrating exchange.

any comments from any one who has been through same scenario?

what version BES?

If BES 4, it wont work unless you goto BES 5 Sp1

best to upgrade BES first before exchange.

Its BES version 5.0.1 - Bundle 5 (please see attached screen shot)

Could you please recommend if there are any set of guidelines which tell how to migrate BES v 5.0.1 from server running SBS 2003 to server running Windows 2008 R2

I am beting you are on BES express and not the full version being on SBS.

Upgrade the BES server to latest version SP3, as it has more support for exchange 2010.

then follow this guide

then once done, you can install a new BES on new server, use transporter to move users over to new BES and be done.
