Default Issues with Orange on my Curve

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all,

I have just brought a new blackberry, however i am now having problems with my carrier Orange, They have told me that my Blackberry is not 3G Compatible!
Now the phone as far as i am aware was originally on t mobile.

I can make and receive calls, but i cant go on the net, send pic messages nor can i access the internet unless i connect to a wi-fi network, i cant even download any apps or anything.

please can someone give me some advice as to how to sort this out, orange have told me that they cant do much for me unless i take out a new contract, which i know is rubbish, as i already have a 3g sim card.

Thanks for any help.

Leaving the 3G question for you to figure out, or someone else to answer..... You can look up the specs, find the 3G frequency (if it is a 3G device) and see if that is the frequency used by Orange, or if Orange even supports 3G. For example, T-Mobile US uses a different 3G frequency than AT&T. I don't know the UK. And don't know the 8520 offhand.

On the other, you need a blackberry data plan. Not the regular data service, but the data service specific for blackberry.

The 8520 was never 3G. EDGE only. The 8520 is an entry level BlackBerry.

And, as was stated above, you need a specific BlackBerry Data Plan. I guess what Orange said wasn't rubbish after all!

There you go. A carrier told you a correct answer. How about that! (Seriously....no sarcasm directed at you reeksys86. Just something on the forum when a member got a straight answer from the carrier.)

Get the data plan for blackberry and you'll be set as far as data services.

ok, well thanks for the help, i actually thought that orange had it wrong when they said about the blackberry not being 3g! It seems they do get things right sometimes.

Anyways, it looks like im going to have to go back to orange and grovel for a data plan now.
