Hi,

I need to create a kind of distribution list with PIN number for sending a warning email to all users when our Blackberry server is on maintenance.


Another question, if the distribution list is possible can I send email from Outlook or I have to do it from the Blackberry cell phone?

You can do this from the server.

Highlight all users, right click, select Send Message. From there you can choose email or PIN. Select PIN and then type your message.

Ya I know that but I need another way to do it, because as I said it's for when the BES is down or on maintenance mode.

You'd have to leverage SMS / PIN so unless you do it with BES you'd have to explore 3rd party solutions.

Wouldn't a simple communication via help desk announcement or if planned on your company intranet work?

What about distribution list with PIN number ? Is there a way to do that?

Yes that is possible, here are the steps:

1. On your BB device, create a contact for each person you want to send a PIN message to (if you haven't aready done so)
2. In the BB address book, create a new group
3. Add every contact you want to send a PIN message to, select PIN when asked
4. Save the group
5. Now you can send a PIN by chosing "Compose PIN" and then selecting the new group

Remeber that this group is not replicated to your Outlook contacts (or LN or Groupwise)
