Yeah. I ordered mine today through Amazon. $99.99 with a $75 rebate, making the net $24.99.

Even if the rebate gets blown off, it's still $100 less than I can get it from AT&T directly.

Man, that is a nice price. We Canadians get screwed on hardware and the cost of plans. :(

Not bad, eh?

Stop complaining. The value of the Canadian $ is getting to the point where you guys can buy in the U.S. whatever Dubai doesn't buy.

About the Amazon price, let's see what they ultimately do on delivery. Show me da phone!

MadDog - did you "upgrade" and plan to continue service with AT&T or do you plan on paying "retail" and nixing the contract?

That's a great deal! What happens if you have an existing account; my 2 year deal on my Pearl still has about 13 months left.

I'm sorta curious about that too.

Can I buy the phone, and then make a change to the premier prices?

theres a 10$ or so difference in monthly fees between the two, which ends up being kinda big in the long run.

Yeah, I'm upgrading to save the $200. My local AT&T store has them in stock now, so I'm going to hold out here a few days to see what happens. If it's not here by Friday, I can always run down to satisfy my craving.

I called Amazon today and they told me that I'm #1 on their list (was #3 a couple of days back) and they're expecting a shipment in the next 1 to 3 days.

I'll post when there's an update.

I bit the bullet and decided to order one as well. They say ship date is Nov 1, but who knows.

How long ago did you order, MadDog?

The price Amazon charged me was $99.99. I just printed the $75 AT&T rebate form off Amazon's website, so my net cost will, in fact be $24.99, which includes 2 day shipping and no sales tax.

I'd say it's worth an extra few days to save the $ (in store up front price is $299 + tax - $100 rebate for net of $224, or savings of $199 (crap, that's pretty damn good)) even though the "instant gratification" in me wants to run down to the store right now.

Must ... hold ... out.

make sure you guys read the fine print with the amazon plans. amazon hides the terms until last screens. att rep told me that the details are different. but then they're also att ....

errr.. or perhaps I should rephrase.... those of you who ordered, did you actually read terms, and if so, do they differ?

The one thing that I noticed is that if you change your plan (i.e. drop the blackberry/smartphone stuff) after you get the phone, you will be charged the full price for the phone immediately.

other than that it was basic stuff.

I ordered mine Monday morning.

I've bought a zillion things from Amazon before but this was the first time it was for something other than a book or somthing simple like that, so I've never really needed to find out exactly what was going on.

Getting someone in their customer service department who knows anything is a challenge. I'm pretty sure they're outsourcing most of their routine calls to India, but I think their cell phone customer service is here in the U.S.

To be honest, I didn't really read all the fine print, just most of it. My primary thing is that I knew I was signing up for another 2 year term and that's OK. I really didn't pay that close attention to cancellation and early termination.

The other thing is that to get the AT&T final rebate ($75), you have to sign up for the $29.99 unlimited data plan, which, if you're going to have a Blackberry, would seem a given (wouldn't it?).

Damn it. It's going to seem like forever until it gets here, but for the price, it will be well worth the wait. Looking back now, all the dopes who camped out a week for their iPhones have to be thinking, "what was I thinking?", so I think it will be worth waiting a week to get a $24.99 8310 (damn, that is a good deal) instead of a $224 8310.

You all will be very happy. I have an unopened 8820 cause I am wanting a red 8310. Have fun and enjoy. Check out my tips and for god sake don't color your balls like some people around here do.

Question Let's get this deal straight

So, if I currently have an AT&T account with my Pearl (which is linked to a family plan with my daughter), I can now buy this 8310 from Amazon at the price quoted, and just extend my current contract which still has about 13 months left? If the answer is yes, then this is a no brain-er for me. Can someone chime in on the facts? I wouldn't want to be subject to any additional fees by changing the terms of my current deal.

Yeah, I just read the fine print too. All is pretty much the same. You just cannot decrease services. Doesn't say anything about not adding them. So order bare minimum to qualify and then add more later if you need to. After 181 days it's standard att terms.

Wondering how att online and retail stores stay in biz when you can get such much better deals from 3rd party resellers. I guess those 3rd parties much be operating with a lot lower overhead....

Although I really dis-liked the service I've gotten from the post-sales customer service people, the pre-sales guys were very knowledgable. I think the answer to your question is yes, but I would just call and confirm it. Amazon cell phone pre-sales is 866-423-5351.
