Unhappy SMS messages show as "Content Protection is enabled".

Please Login to Remove!

Fairly random one this...I had Encryption enabled on my Pearl 3G 9105 and sometimes (only 3 times) when I received an SMS the new message and some older ones from that recipient were displayed as "Content protection is enabled" and the sender as "null" but only in the conversation view - in the inbox the latest message appears just fine.

I've since disabled Encryption, but if anyone knows what the issue is I'm all ears!

Thanks,
Stephen

Since you have encryption for the messages, thats why this is happening. usually most people are not enabling encryption because it slows the navigation of messages. usually a password on the device is more than enough.

I've just gone with enabling a password - my phone never leaves my side and to be honest I don't have anything on there that's sensitive enough that I think encryption is necessary and if it was stolen I'd get right onto my provider to get it blacklisted!

Cheers!

If you have disabled encryption and things are working fine then what is your question?

Regarding security, keep in mind your interpretation of what is sensitive may not be everyone's. In other words, say your device gets stolen or lost and you don't have a password, now all your contact information is completely available to whoever stole / found the device. If I was in your contact list, I sure wouldn't want my information shared with a thief.

And remember, even if it's always "by your side", accidents and bad things still can happen.

Password == good!!!

My question / issue is that I shouldn't have to disable encryption for things to work properly - surely you agree with that? I'd ideally like to have encryption enabled, but wont do if the same thing keeps happening.

Further, I do have a password enabled, as my previous post states.
