Default BB Smart E-Mail Software

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I’m hoping someone can give me some help and guidance please.

2 years ago I bought the BB Smart E-Mail package.

After 12 months I then upgraded my phone from the 8100 to the 8120 and the BB Smart guys help me out in getting my software moved onto my new Blackberry.

However, this week the software no longer works and I’m being told that my BB Smart trial has ended – I am under the impression that I’d paid for the software in full 2 years ago.

Also worth noting is that I’m due to upgrade my phone again, sometime within the next week or so, I’m upgrading to the new Blackberry Storm, which should be released here in the UK sometime around the 14th-17th Nov.

I've also posted this message on the BB Smart web site but have but have not had any replies. Also the e-mail address give by BB Smart bounces.

Can anyone give me some advice and guidance here.

Cheers

Keith

Wirelessly posted (8130 Pearl (Sprint))

I would search in your all mail folder for mail from them.

I've done that - but have sent 2 e-mails - one from my BB and the other from my PC using Outlook - both e-mails bounced - see below

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. The following addresses failed:

<support@blackberrysmart.com>

SMTP error from remote server after RCPT command:

Try sending an email to eZainny (member here) as he's listed as the CEO of BBSmart.

You might also try contacting them through their web site.

Be patient, and remember that we are dealing with a big world. I believe that they are located in Australia, where it has been the weekend for a bit longer than for me in the US or you in UK. I wouldn't be surprised if you have your answer in the morning (your time).

While you seat and wait, you may want to read this entire thread:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/afte...5-upgrade.html

but summed up: They are not currently providing support for this software if your OS is 4.5.

Enjoy your new Storm!

Thanks Yoryie for your help.
It would appear that users could be waiting a long time if they have moved up to OS 45 - Which i think could be my problem although my smartview did work fine after i'd upgraded to OS 45.
Perhaps i might just need a new activation code?
I'll wait for a reply.

Cheers

Last time I heard they were not really working on the email viewer to much anymore because of the HTML email already on OS 4.5.

So, if thats the case how do i get the HTML to work on my BB 8120 - I take it will give the same look as what the smartview does - not show the tags etc.

Cheers

You could try loading this OS onto your 8120. That will give you 4.5 with native html email, assuming that your BIS provider has upgraded and your BES (if applicable) has SP6 installed.

Ok i'll give it a go and see what happens.
You said theres a HTML e-mail reader with this OS - do you have to switch it on or change some settings?

djm2 thanks for your help.

It defaults to on...you have to click the BB button when in an email and select "Get Images" to download images. There is no automatic download of images.

You're welcome. I have a desire for them to keep Smartview alive because I am on a modified BES -- Blackberry Professional -- and to date there is no SP6 for this variant. Hopefully either BBSmart or RIM will do something to rectify this situation.

Well what can a say, but some strange going ons!
This morning i had a e-mail from BBSmart giving me my activation code, which did not work. So i e-mailed then back to let them know and await further help/info.
I then download the OS 8120 4.5.0.108/4.5.0.81 that djm2 had given me the link to.
Updated my 8120 and now the BBSmartview e-mail works!
I've now e-mailed BBSmartview to let them know whats happened and ask if this might just be a trail version.

Cheers
