Well, here is what I see so far.

1. Call timer issue has been fixed. It used to stop updating the display when the screensaver would kick it and when the call would disconnect. The timer shows the value when the screensaver last kicked in. Now is shows the correct time when the call disconnects.

2. Multiple folders for each email acct monitored on the front page in addition to the messages folder. Each folder will show a new message count when it is selected.

3. Bluetooth headset doesn't go off hook until entire dial string is entered. Previously, you could hear the digits being entered.

4. First time doing some selections, it seems to hourglass while it does internal stuff.

So far, nothing that really impresses me. It would be nice to turn off #2.

Hide the extra icons. You can still use the main message ribbon just like you did with v4.0.2.

Can you get the counter back at the top of the screen? I am using Zen and have lost the new message icon and counter at the top. Switching to other themes and it shows back up. On Zen it is gone until I go into the message center, surf the web, or make/receive a call.

How do you unhide the extra mailbox icons? I've hidden it but would like it back.

Also, it sounds like BIS users can set up multiple mailboxes to receive emails from different accounts, such that each email would be seen under the main message icon as well under the icon for that particular email account. Is this correct?

Click Alt and the trackwheel and choose Show Icon. Yes that is correct. It is actually a function of the new BIS 2.0.

I upgraded from the HK 4.1 yesterday. With the old 4.1, I could set a custom ringtone for specific contacts; that seems to have disappeared. It also lost all my custom ringtones, pictures, and would not restore the messages that it allegedly backed up as part of the install process.

Thanks for the instructions to hide the extra mailboxes. Noticed one of my boxes had -1 messages in it.

Also, how hard is it to program in custom ringtones. Hmmm, get calling number, look up in address book. Found, use designated sound, else use default ring.

Ugggh. Are the developers not listening to the users??

using the Desktop Manager, go to Backup and Restore.
select Advanced, go to File and Open one of the .ipd files saved before the upgrade.
look for a file in the Backup named Content Store and copy that to the handset.

that should return your pictures and ringtones.

Upgraded yesterday. Lost browser for a while, got it back. AIM is not working. Spent too long on the phone yesterday with techs, AIM still not working; "communication error." Another issue, my trackwheel is blown. I spend too much time trying to land on icons or choices. Any ideas to replace the trackwheel? Otherwise I love the 7100t.

Something else new. Actually sorta funky and cool.

BTW, How do we report errors about this software, or are there lurkers?

Anyway, went to the phone list, picked an entry to send an SMS. Once it was sent, it went to the messages page. The timestamp column has two entries. One on top of each other. It looks like the original timestamp of the phone call and the other timestamp is when the SMS was sent. Continues to show up when entering the message page from the main page.

Really bizarre.

I upgraded today, and so far I like it a whole lot better. The only problem I see right now, is I lost all of my BB messenger buddies.

Default Woah, I discovered custom ring tones!

Goto Address Book
Select NAME and Return
Thumbwheel click and EDIT
Thumbwheel click and Add Custom Phone Tune
Thumbwheel click and Change Option and then select your tune.

Maybe a glitch where it won't work with the last entry in Phones profile.

Is it just me or is 4.1 slower than 4.0 on a 7100?!

It seems like the themes are much slower.

Upgraded to 4.1, which was much slower than previous OS (3.8), until I started using the various features, then it speeded up. Maybe an issue of loading stuff into faster portion of memory?

Custom ringtones seems to only work when the phone is out of holster. In holster it does the vibrate+tone with the tone being the one defined in the profile. Out of holster is defined as tone only. Tune is defined the same on both sections.

One thing i noticed that's new is you can change how calendar appointments are viewed in the entry now, , "Show As" has options like "Busy" "Tentative" and "Out Of Office", just like in outlook.
