Unhappy unable to access memo folder

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,
BES 4.1 / Exchange 2003 / 8700
trying to make an enterprise aktivation results in the error:
{s.userl@company.de} ConstructPIMFolder - Failed to open the memo folder for user (0x8004010f)
after we deleted the mailbox and create a new one, the error does no longer appear, but we have some more mbx with this error, and deleting the mailboxes is not amazing
has anyone another idea?

Ralf

Default Unable to sync memo folders

I have a similar error message with ConstructPIM for one user.
Everything works fine on BBY except memo.

Any ideas.

Many Thanks

Smile ConstructPIMFolder

I was able to resolve by first resetting the default Outlook folders. I then recreated the "Notes" folder. After recreating the "Notes" folder I created a "Notes" item in the folder. Active Synch then ran to completion.

Thumbs down Recreate Mailbox

Do an EXMERGE on the mailbox, delete the mailbox then recreate it (in Exchange).

We had a corrupt exchange database, after a brick layer restore none of our Blackberries would complete OTA.

Try this (if you can)

1. Remove user from BES
2. EXMERGE users mailbox
3. Delete Mailbox from Exchange
4. Recreate mailbox
5. Populate new mailbox with EXMERGE data
6. Add user to BES
7. Activate Device.

RIM couldn't figure out our issue, I decided to try this and it worked..... It's a stupid way of doing it but it works.

Anyone any more thoughts on this ?

It seems to be the root of my activation woes. I turn memo sync off in the policy and BINGO !

Pretty much all of my users have this problem

Jon

I would tend to agree with jnetter.... most issues i have had with users who cant sync a specific database (whether it be memos, address book, tasks, etc) the mailbox in question had something corrupt in it.

Please remember that when it gets down to it, Exchange is running on the same database engine that MS Access is. Dont expect perfection.

try this if you can,
delete user from BES
exmerge data from user mailbox
delete all items from user mailbox, mail, address book, memo, tasks etc etc

add user to BES
perform enterprise activation, user mailbox is still empty
if it works, then import exmerge data into mailbox

otherwise only choice is deleting and recreating mailbox

Sorry if this seems like a noobish question, but anyone mind giving me a step by step for this procedure?

I am getting hundreds of these errors everyday and need a little guidance.

Thanks!

Take a look at this article. It will probably help you out and understand. In short, new mailbox. It is a Microsoft known issue.

The process is about as straightforward as SoUnCool said - instead of running "outlook" on the client PC you run "outlook /resetfolders" instead.

There's a fair bit of info on "Outlook resetfolders" if you google for it. Caveats that people mention include making sure that the client is actually signed into Exchange at the time (which makes sense I guess!).

That's another method I've seen work as well.
