Default "My Number" while on a call

Is there a way to prevent "my number" from showing up on the screen while I'm on a call? I can't understand what purpose that serves.

Nothing! I tried doing the Phone>Options>General Options>Show My Number> and set it to "no", it does nothing. My Number still shows up when on a call...

After you changed it, did you save, or just back out?

No on "show my number" blocks YOUR number from showing to the call recipient.

You're thinking restrict my identity?

No on show my number removes my number on my phone screen. Just tested it.

ismar, if you are talking about your number showing on your phone screen, and you have set the BB to not show and it still shows, reboot. If it still shows, try hard reset.

sometimes when I use my friends phone and I need someone to call me back on that phone, I would have to ask my friend his phone number because I might not know it off the bat, I would like to think that is one of a many purposes it might have, I could be wrong...

It is a good idea to have it there especially when most people issued a BB is not their primary phone number. So when they use it and someone asks for their number, all they have to do is look on the screen. Makes life simpler.

Setting Show "My Number" to NO removes your number from the "dialing" screen, but, once you make a call, the "calling" screen still shows your number. I don't think there's any way to remove "My Number" from that screen.

I guess your right. I always had it set to yes and so never gave it much thought. But I set it to no and dialed a number, and that calling screen does indeed still show my number, though the dialing screen, what I called the phone screen does not. Don't see any other settings, however.

..... And for what it's worth, setting restrict identity to "always" also does not remove my number from the calling screen.

Sorry, ismar.
