Default App for BBC radio on Curve 8310 ?

Please Login to Remove!

Can anyone advise me about a suitable app to enable me to receive BBC radio on my Blackberry Curve 8310 in Germany? All I seem to find are apps for Canadian stations.

Thanks in advance for any advice !

Thanks Ariel.

The service offfering is impressive and gratis !

I have accesed m.yourmuze.fm, registered and have selected the BBC stations etc. but I only get the player displayed and no further action - no sound and the cursor doesn't move.

Any ideas what I should try next? I seem to be almost there!

I researched the problem and found that BBC changed their stream source from Real Audio to iPlayer. The streams from iPlayer is compatible with yourmuze.fm.

Fortunately, BBC made a way to access iPlayer through the Blackberry. Point your Blackberry browser to BBC Mobile | BlackBerry Shortcut Applications and download the BBC Mobile shortcut. When you click on the shortcut, it should take you to a browser stream source directly from the BBC instead of through yourmuze.fm.

Hopefully this works. I haven't tried it.

Hi Ariel,

Thanks I checked the BBC site and found that I would need a BB OS of at least 4.2 to 5 i.e. BB bold 9700. I have already purchased the latter via eBAy so hopefully I will soon be on my way to successful BBC listening !

I much appreciate your good advice and will report on my success (or not)!

Hi Frigiliana,
Thanks, I spent a large part of to-day trying to listen to BBC on my BB Curve 8310 (OS updated to 4.5) but with no success - I will be interested to hear about your experience with the BB bold 9700!
It is a frustrating experience and wastes a lot of otherwise productive time !

Hi Frigiliana,

I have now managed to connect to the BBC world service via my BB Bold 9700 after very much perserverance. Download the blue BBC mobile app from the BBC website and then click on BBC world service -> listen live -> select Blackberry 900 series app from near the bottom of the webspage -> then it works ! It seems even to work with low band rates.
The standard BBC player which you can also download does not work for with my Blackberry.

Good luck !

I have found that the Premier version of NOBEX radio (ca. $19.99/A) - a BB app - does allow me to access BBC and other stations in the UK e.g. BBC Radio Scotland etc. but this only works within the range of my WIFI/WLAN.

Outside of the WIFI/WLAN there is no reception unfortunately.

I am using a 9700 Bold.
