Default Question about Gmail

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there-

My first post is a question!

I have an 8330 curve and I love it, except for one thing.... When I got a new computer, it didn't have Outlook so I forwarded all my domain-specific email addresses to a gmail address for ease of access.

I then forwarded that gmail address to my Blackberry. I am able to reply using the gmail addresses from my desktop and laptop without issue, but the only address I am able to send replies from on the Blackberry is the gmail address.

I thought perhaps the enhanced gmail plugin would help, but no such luck.

It would be REALLY great to be able to manage ALL my email through gmail and have the computer and Blackberry completely synched with replies going to recipients from the proper address regardless of where they are sent from.

Is this possible? Is it a simple setting I am missing, or am I asking for too much?

Looking forward to your replies!

Greg

Nope its not possible.
The only way I see this working (and im not sure it works). You have to have whatever account you are forwarding to gmail; setup on BIS but to not forward (push) mail to your device.
Then when an email comes in, from gmail via this other account, and you click reply; you scroll up and change the "send using" to the other address.
I did try this once and it didnt work, so.

I'm a little confused by your post and question, so this may not be appropriate, but is there any reason why you can't use the Gmail client for the BlackBerry??
Instead of forwarding your e-mails from Gmail to your BIS account, you can just read them IN Gmail and IN the device by using the Gmail client.
You can then reply to them, and they will have the Gmail address as the sender.

In the blackberry online setup for your emails, in the 'email account name' box, you can put in the original email address you want, and in 'reply to' you can also put it in. That should correct your problem, if I understand your question correctly

As I reread your question, if you're forwarding a few work email addresses to one gmail account, look in the 'settings' in gmail. under 'accounts and import' right under the various emails you have forwarded, there will be a choice of reponding from a default address or from address that the message was sent to
