OK I've got a question for the USA readers...browsing a number of the other forums on this site e.g. connect or general BBQ's - time and time again you get posts along "how do I add my personal BB to the company BES", or "IT Guy wants to wipe my device prior to activating on the BES -help". This suggests that a proportion of BBusers have their own personal device, paid privately that they then might use for company email too..

Here in the UK the experience is largely that the company buys the devices, gives it to the user and then picks up the tab for the monthly rental. I've come across very few cases of 'adding a personal device to the company BES'

So the question is why? Is it just the USA were hooked on 'berries first and so the true road warrior got there own long before their company had even heard of BES?

Or is it something else- I'm just curious...

Where I work the Firm does not pay for cell phones so if you want to combine cell and BB it is the user's blackberry on the their cell account -- they are reimbursed for the data portion of the bill. If a user only wants blackberry email service the Firm provides the device and the service.

Depends on company policy. At my company we buy the BB and pays for the plan. At a company we acquired users were allowed to buy their own and had it connected to the company BES.

We are stopping users buying their own because we don't want to hear "this is my BlackBerry you can't do this or that".

Our answer to "this is my blackberry" is that the Firm owns the email account and whatever data may be on there that could be client and or Firm based
