Agreed! I also use that function to quickly see what BB's have not communicated overnight and number of pending messages.

I've not yet found that type of view in the new interface. Perhaps the monitoring tool?

I can't get to the monitoring tool webpage. The install pointed to https://besserver:8443/webconsole/app

All I get is page not found.

Monitoring is not a default install in BES 5. You can easily add it, however, by re-running the installer and selecting it for install at the beginning.

It was installed. I'm doing a re-install anyway.

Re-installed. Still can't get to the monitoring console.

So far I don't like the BAS interface. I'll get used to it, but it is taking forever to find stuff. I need to adapt, but at the moment the layout just feels illogical.
totally agree, why the need to search for user? They should just list all created users or even better... a list of active and inactive users.

No one is having a problem with Active directory authentication? I cannot get it to sync even though the initial Query and login check via LDAP work fine. I did find the DNs issue with no PTR record and fixed that, but it still doesnt work. I get "KDC has no support for encryption type (14)" in the BAS logs. A quick Google searched turned up a registry settings to "allowtgtsessionkey" settings to 1 due to Java's way of using Kerberos and still I cannot use AD authentication. Can't find anything on RIM's support site that has fixed it either. Any ideas? I would post the links of the articles I've seen related but i dont have enough posts yet.

I'm having a problem with AD authentication and Domino Mailbox authentication, but that is because my BES DIIOP config is a pile of @rse that I entered to get past setup.
As this server is currently hosting only myself, it is the least of my concerns right now

Is yours an exchange system?

Oh, sorry. Yes mine is an Microsoft Exchange test system. RIM made it clear last time I called that even though I have support, my tier level does not extend to a test environment and I will not receive support on it. I'm not sure how this is valid approach since I have a 500 user production environment I wont dare put this on until these problems are resolved.

Hi,

i did the upgrade yesterday. everthing went great as usual with RIM. after using the administration service webside for about 30 minutes i could no longer conncet to the webpage. i was unable to log in. i got the wrong user name /password message. that happend to all websides. then i took a look into the blackberry server configuration and everything was just gone .
every setting in there was just gone. no port or router setting anymore.
the other thing that made me wonder is that you have to rename the server. is that really true? do i really need to rename the server for the fqdn of the mds server pool? or can i just rename the pool?

thanks

What sort of domain are you running? What functional level?

I would expect that error "KDC has no support for encryption type (14)" to show up in a mixed domain between 2003/2008. Should be fine for 2003 native or 2008 native, but not a 2003/2008 mixed domain. This is a fairly well-documented issue with Java and KDC...

Why would it have an error with 2003/2008 mixed but not native on either side? I looked and I was running a mixed environment. I raise my test environment to 2008 native and I will see if that helps...though if that really is the problem I would not be able to move to BES 5 until this KDC issue is resolved.

I honestly can't remember the exact reason why, only that in my own testing, I found that if I had a 2003 native domain and everything was 2003, I was fine. If I had a 2008 BAS/BES on a 2003 domain, it didn't work. If I had a 2008 native domain, it worked.

More of an issue with KDC than RIM's, really, from what I recall while looking into the issue.

Amazing. That worked. Yeah I realize its a problem with KDC, but i read Java SE 1.6 doesnt seem to have this issue but BES 5 installs 1.5. IS it possible to install 1.6? I only have 2 of 6 domain controllers Windows 2008 and dont see them being converted within the next year or so. Guess I can always hope either MS or SUN fix the problem in the meantime. Thanks for the workaround!

Dunno - I hadn't tried that, but I wouldn't think it'd work out well

No problem. It should be a concern for anyone thinking of running a mixed domain in that any AD-authentication would fail, including end users using web desktop.
