Default OS 6 with Blackberry 8520?

Please Login to Remove!

I have the blackberry curve 8520. I was wondering if they are working on or will ever release OS 6 for the 8520? I love this phone and really don't want to have to get a new one just because it won't support OS 6

the 8500 series isn't on the upgrade path for OS 6 AFAIK. It is really sort of an entry to mid-level device and doesn't have the horsepower or the memory to run it.

But, just because you can't get OS 6 that doesn't mean the device won't work. If it is working as you need it to work and isn't broken, why do you think it requires to be fixed? Non support of OS 6 isn't a good reason to toss it aside and get a new device. But that is just my humble opinion.

Oh I had another question dubdub, this isn't something I was planning on doing but I saw a post about it on another website and it just made me think. What would happen if you tried to upgrade your OS with a leaked version that wasn't for your phone but it was for the same kind of series

Wouldn't work. The OS is device specific for your exact model number, i.e. you need an OS for the 8520, not 8530 or 8500.

You could end up bricking it, but not likely. Probably cause you a lot of grief getting it back and to make it work as you have it - if you actually could get it back.

IMHO, if the device does what you want it to do and isn't broken, there is no need to try to fix it.
