I am not sure if anyone is working on the bbCorrector client. I would like to re-write it correct these issues and have it connect directly to Google rather then parse it through the server I wrote and just translate the results. bbCorrector was written in Eclipse which seems to have a complicated build process rather then just importing the project into the RIM JDE. I haven't had much luck with that so I haven't even started trying to recode the client.

Default BBCorrector

I installed BBCorrector on a 7280 and can see the spelling option but receive a fail message when selecting "spelling." The message is "BBCorrector Error: could not open tunnel - failed."

I have done the following:
1) rebooted multiple times - up to 5 now - after each config change
2) I have selected "disable MDS proxy" - this was required because it would never attempt to connect to the server and just issue the could not find service book entry for IPPP - resolved
3) I have tried both regular and secure server
4) I have validated that firewalls are "disabled"
5) I have no entry in user and password within application - did not change error result
6) I changed TLS default to "handlheld" and protocol is set to "TLS/SSL"

I have read this whole thread and something is still amiss - any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used the Spelling Suggestion to select "test" to replace "tesst." The sentence then became: "This itest of the tje emergency broadcast system." bbCorrector is replacing the word, as well as the four previous characters.

Both servers (basic and secure) give the same result.

Yea same issue here, 8700c with 4.1. This would be good without this issue but now useless.

mine works, i'm using it on my BB 7250. Only thing i find is when it finds spelling error, it will give suggestions but it may delete first letter beside it. Exp. "The Dog is heree." Correction will show " The Dog ihere." But besides that, everything ok.

I just installed and began using the application on my 8700c 4.1os today. I am having this problem with the app as well.

Anyone get this to work or have another suggestion for free spelling software?

Thanks so much.

I have modified the client for new BB OS versions. It works in the simulator but I don't have a secure API license so I can't load it on my Blackberry to test. I am in contact with one of the admins for the Blackberry Tools site and I am trying to get it signed so I can officially test it. Then, if it works, the modified version should get posted.

The source code for my modifications and a JDE 4.1 project file are located in the patches section.

I tested the code written by Josh Harris in my JDE. I tested with the latest simulator code 4.1.0.194 and looks good. I'll see if I can sign it with my key and have others test. I'm pretty new to BB coding so please be patient (my JDE is so slow in editing).

Default BBCorrector Error: could not open tunnel - failed

I followed the instructions, tried both servers and get the same error message on my 8700C. I would love to be able to make this work and any help would be appreciated.

That'd be great since I still haven't found anyone else to sign it for me. If you don't mind, can you PM me with a link when you get it signed? Then, if it works, we can hopefully get it posted to the official site.

Thanks,

Josh
