Default OS 4.1 for 7520? Any Luck?

Please Login to Remove!

I have been searching all night, but no definite answers. I trying to find out if the OS 4.1 download will work with the 7520? Reason I ask, i went to the link for the download, and the 7520 model isn't listed. Could I download with the option for 7250? Will I lose any of my nextel features (ie: ptt, speaker, gps?). Sorry for the noob question, but I searched, beleive me. Thanks in advance.

That's a very good question. I'd also like to know the answer to that one, especially since I could never get the last OS update to work correctly for me. I'm still running OS 4.0.0.249 on my BB, because 4.0.1.whatever had way too many bugs, no matter what I did. After 3 faulty installation attempts, I rolled back to 4.0.0.249 and left it well enough alone.

And before anyone asks, yes, I updated the Desktop Manager software. Yes, I did a clean uninstall of the old Desktop Manager version. Yes, I did a clean install of the new version. Yes, I did a clean install of OS 4.0.1 on my BB, then restored my data from a full backup. And NO, none of that helped! }=(

Well not exactly two months, it has only been available on the GSM phones for a little over a week. It may have been out on the 7100i/8700/7130 for longer though.

looking at Nextel's track record with up-to-date stuff....i have my doubts about "soon". They aren't exactly prompt with distribution. I was hoping the at least i could try downloading the version for the 7250, but i didnt want to take the risk until i was for sure it wasnt going to affect anything on the 7520

Well, Nextel came out with 4.0.2 pretty quick... TMO still has 4.0.0.x

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7100i/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/103)

The 7520 and the 7250 are completely differrent phones. The hardware is very differrent. I doubt loading the software will get you anywhere. Hopefully the upgrade will come soon. I am also waiting for the fix for the 7100i to come from NEXTEL.

We have a few different carriers that could have the 7520 firmware available too.. Don't forget Telus Mike, and a few overseas.. The 7290 users aren't getting the upgrade from cingular.......

Nextel normally isn't too bad about it, but I'd like to take the 4.1 OS for a spin. But I'll wait gladly if it's bug free (Unlike the 7100i)

FWIW, I don't think the 7520 and 7250 are that much different.. I think the biggest differences are the lack of speaker and antenna, and the radio boards in them.. They both have seperate radios in them. (Seperate CPU and daughterboard to run radio operations) You could probably get the OS code to work on the handheld, the problem may be the radio section if it's getting upgraded with the OS as well........
