it would be downloaded over-the-air. tobious is reporting that he was unable to do it, so maybe its a different wav format. i'll have to toy around with it a bit, or someone else with a 7100i will have to. the 8700c should be the same, as well.

i have put up some wav files in the below links. just email the links to your handheld and try to go to them from its browser. they are split up into 8Khz, 16Khz and 22Khz wav files (PCM uncompressed) in 8-bit and 16-bit formats. if none of these work, then i can change the format from PCM to something else, although it may simply be that the browser does not support the MIME types that the media player does.

okay, unless someone else can figure it out, my guess is simply that the Browser application does not support WAV file MIME types, despite the fact that the media player application does. a weird paradox that sucks.

hah! here's something funny that may allow you to contact NXTL about it.

Quote:
Download ring tones
1. On a web page, click a .mid or .wav file link.
2. Click Get Link.
3. Click Menu.
4. Click Save.
5. Type a name for the ring tone.
6. Click OK.
This is from the user manual for the 7100i found here:
