Yea, it does seem pretty nice.

3G Mobile hotspot, that's nice.

Someone enlighten me about the magnetometer, what's that do (it's not the BlackBerry traditional magnet sensing put-to-sleep feature).

And the proximity sensor? Is this for aiding in finding other BlackBerry users, etc?

Magnetometer - Use in Mobile phones

Not sure about the proximity sensor.

The proximity sensor detects when the phone is against your face (on a phone call) and it will shut off the touchscreen to prevent inadvertent button presses.

This is very exciting. When is it going to be released on ATT?

Sounds like the magnetometer is just a fancy word for compass.

Any word on a release date or time frame? I want a BB again but don't want to buy a 9700 if this Dakota is right around the corner.
I would hope Rim will release it quite quickly to lock people in a contract before the new iPhone cones out this summer.

Does anyone know if future BB's will have better support for Imap so emails can push folders as to just pushing your in box. Especially since we are all not on an enterprise?

It's extremely unlikely that you'll see better IMAP support in BIS any time soon.

I just can't understand why, it makes no sense to me.

I can only imagine that there's not enough of a demand for it and the current implementation of IMAP support in BIS is sufficient for most consumers.

If full IMAP support is important to you, then perhaps BlackBerry isn't the best choice for you for a smartphone. Android and iPhone both offer excellent IMAP clients.
If you're not "stuck" with BlackBerry, then you might want to check out some alternatives.

Think they will call it the "Curve Touch"?

If they included full imap or exchange support for that matter, then it would eat into their BES sales.

First off - this Dakota is going to be a long way out (Sept the earliest). Anyone else notice the other devices got CPU spec's including Torch 2 rumored?!

Second -
proximity sensor although going to be used in Dakota should be no real revalation since Storm/Torch both have it. I have a distinc feeling that the inclusing with NFC will be used with the proximity sensor, and GPS event based API. For fantasy I will be blogging about it - but the real world applications are incredible, and palpable.

yes sign me up.
Also of SWEET note is support for OpenGL ES 2.0 I've seen noted in one of the other devices leaked which means an ARMv9 based cpu is in tow ;) SWEET!! Cortex A8 capability or an imbedded GPU that's just as capable of running ES 2.0.

I would much rather, sicne these are 1.2GHz phones, and Mike Lazardis did say that they won't be hitting 1GHz, have dual A9 cores at 600MHz each.

Considering how an A9 chip at 1GHz has more than 30% advantage than a similarly clocked A8, dual 600MHz cores seems totally possible and would be as fast as the current and some future crop of phones.
