I just purchased a Blackberry Curve 8330 and should receive it soon. In the meantime, does anyone know if it's web2.0 compatible? Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I'm ignorant to what that language means. Thanks for any assistance.

Probably not compatable for some Web 2.0 apps. You'll need a lot more device memory, as well as possibly some PC-specific software to enable some apps. I'll settle for Flash for the BB.

So, I take it by your response, it should handle some web 2.0 apps while rejecting others? I'll settle for a 50/50 chance or worse over no chance. I'm just running a simple (well, fairly simple) admin for a website, and I'd like to be able to do that stuff from anywhere without having to bust open my laptop all the time.

I'm pretty sure sites like YouTube and MySpace are web2.0 sites or sites that use web2.0 applications. I would imagine if the BB Curve 8330 can handle those, it can handle our admin for our website.

Web 2.0 is in the mind. It is the New Internet - social networking, wikis, blogs. It is not something to be compatible with.

Not all web sites work on a BlackBerry. Simple as that.

Web 2.0 sites usually have heavy doses of JavaScript and AJAX. Some tax the client much harder than old school sites. So, RAM and CPU take a hit. Mobile browsers often can't handle it, but the iPhone generally does a pretty good job with them.

If I'm not mistaken, Opera works by pulling the site to their server, formatting it for the BB and then sending it on. Essentially you are accessing the site from their server then. The advantage is that you can view many more sites this way and folks swear by it. I've tried it, but really didn't get into it much.

Sorry for the long delay. I use the BB browser for most of my viewing, but for most sites that the bb browser cant handle Opera Mini can. It is not perfect, but it works well for things like banking websites that require a secure login
