My understanding is the programs that run on regular phones will only work if the person leaves their phone discoverable. Bluetooth as a whole is safe if not in discovery mode. Yes, the packets may be sniffed but unless they want to hear my gospel music then they won't like me. I may be wrong.

There is an encryption package available for the BB that decodes data once in the BB. It is however not available to 99.999 % of the world. It slows down the BB but it does work.

There's some website that tracks Celebrities who use BBs, and even many celebrities paid to endorse other makes eventually go back to BB. Paris uses a BB now so I'm wondering if security is one of the reasons.

Nope. Not that sophisticated. All of her Sidekick data was stored on Danger's servers. Someone guessed her password (which I think was her dog's name).

yes but it has to be installed on the device. again, its not hacking. its merely just sending data from the device. you dont have to "hack" the device to get the information, just "hack" the user into letting you install software on their device.

Why is it that there are always some people who want to hack/break into/destroy anything just to compensate for doing something else.

Why don't these people just use devices for what they are supposed to be used for.

I will tell you why I do it. First I do not do any of it without the other persons knowledge. I do it because it is fun to me. Some people make stock cars faster, a type of hacking especially with all the computer in the cars today. Others of us try to get into other peoples computers and such. I also am a network administrator for a local high school so I have to make sure no one can get into the system too. Again I do it for fun and my job not for personal gain or to destroy someone or something.

Wow... I'd be really upset if someone hacked my Bluetooth headset, seeing as it's the peripheral that has default passkey of 0000... not the handheld.

You do know that the BlackBerry doesn't have a default Bluetooth password, right? You can leave it your device on discoverable all year round... and nothing is going to happen to it other than maybe your battery life dropping a little.
