I had a Pearl and now have an 8800 but can't find the *.alx file any where. The file paths I have on my system are:

C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry
C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\{824B0347-ACEF-493B-9B58-205F8EF885A2}
C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Action Engine
C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Connectors

...

C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Transaction Manager

and

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Modem Drivers
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\RIMDeviceManager
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\USB Drivers

The paths listed in the install instructions doesn't exist on my system nor does an *.alx so where do I put the *.alx file? If I knew where it was, I would know where to delete it from and install the new one. But its no where to be found.

You need to install the OS to your PC.

OK, ran it on the 8800 and all worked nice. It was actualy fast it took about 5 minutes for the whole thing to complete. Now one thing that may be some one can shed some light on this. I like the orange theme, and similar to the pearl, the medianet browser is no were to be seen (checked the hidden and not there either). I remember reading a post where one poeter said to go to the convenience key assignement and assigne it from there and it will appear and then one can go back and re-assigne the key and it will remain there. Did that and nothing. Any one has any idea on how to get it. By the way, I did not remove the vendor file as my though is that it is a cingular service and did not remove it. I had removed it with the pearl before but still did not help.

TIA.

kasperapd thanks for posting the screen shots & thanks to John Clark for posting the .alx file. I haven't installed the modified .alx file yet but I will be doing it later on to enable the other carrier themes.

The credit goes to Jibi for the modified .alx's. He's done a great job with his sticky thread.

Looking though the themes, yes, Sprint and VZW are there but they seem to be in name only as neither can be activated.

Kasper...ouch on the @pinstack e-mail address showing up first and often in your screenshots.

lol

Question...what carrier theme is the "tim-zen" theme? (second post, second from the right..."red zen")

I know this might have been covered before, but will these themes or at least some of them work on the 8700? I would think that the Zen, and the new Cingular theme should work just fine, right?

The first post of this thread has a link to Jibi's thread which contains .alx files for many devices. I doubt these 8800 themes will work on the 8700.

Hmm. . . Guess I'll have to install Windows on my MacBook and see if they work or not. . . I can't imagine much has changed, but if it has, maybe we'll see these new updated themes in 4.2 for the 87xx.

You're right... I just use that as my junk email address. Figured it would be good for that!

TIM is some carrier in Italy, don't know much else about it.

Fisrt are you able to find the directory location? If yous, then you have to set the view to show all files. To do that, go to the directory location and then click on Oraganize (top left drop down) then select folder and search options. Once selcted you will get a new window. In the new window click on the view tab. Once there you see boxes for choices. Look in there for the hiddn files and folders and then slect teh show all hidden and then apply. You should be able to see that. If you can find the directory, you would have to do that on teh root directory and apply it.

hi folks, i'm using a pearl 8100 and treo 750 - looking forward to switching to 8800 - with the pearl there was a calender issue that it did not display full day events in the theme home page. Does this issue continue with 8800 or has it been fixed ... any help much appreciated.
