Default How do I "REALLY" turn this thing off?

Please Login to Remove!

The only time I actually turn off my phone is when I am on a plane but whenever I take it out of my pocket upon landing it is always on.

What steps are you taking to turn it off?

Along that line, is there no tweak so that "full power off" (which is what you want) also kills non base-OS running apps? e.g full power off, when I turn back on gps tracker is still running.

Wirelessly posted (? Big Fatty)

I would think that if you are turning off the phone by using the turn off button it would turn it off. I know you have to wait until it totally powers off before you put it away so you don't hit a button and it cancels the power.

If you don't fully power down, mine wakes up when an appointment comes up in my calendar. Since my plane reservation is usually in the calendar followed by something like a car rental or meeting, it often comes back on before I land. I believe if you do the full power off option, it won't wake up on its own.

Correct. But it still keeps applications alive it seems. I can only assume that is using power too or does it somehow suspend the app to solid state memory?

Where do you find the "full power off" option? Or is that just using the red power button on the phone?

i wouldnt worry about having it on during a flight, but for any other times leaving the battery out works, and since you probably dont have a bb on your belt when it's off the battery can go wherever the bb is.

Also, additional somewhat related, power off question. I have my phone scheduled to do an automatic reboot (using quickpull) yet everytime it goes to reboot I get the message (not sure of the exact wording) but it offers the options "reboot now" or "reboot later" (its the one that comes up when u get new apps installed)and the phone won't actually restart until I just touch the screen (I don't actually even have to select one of the reboot options) is there anyway to get rid of this pop up message so that my phone will restart on its own when scheduled without me having to touch the screen?

When you are on the plane, just turn off the WiFi and Mobile Network when on a flight. That's all you need to do (turn off the radios).

FAA says any device must be fully turned off during take off / landing. When they say you can use electronic devices, then you can use the BB without the connections. Not stating my opinion on this, just what the regs say.

The last icon is called Power Off and gives you the option to Turn Off (like the red key) or Full Power Off. I believe the latter will keep it from waking up on the plane. Personally I just do the red key, but it does pop back on sometimes.

The only way to fully power it off is to use the Power Off icon on the screen. Not the actual button. When you click the icon there is an option for Full Power Off. thats it :P
