.85 has same issues as .83 for me

My 9530 is still periodically refusing to turn off the backlight after the 20 seconds goes by. I have to do a battery pull to get it back to normal. Also, whenever that first issue happens then I have a heck of a time trying to get the screen to unlock.
Very frustrating. I hope that a stable build is coming soon. RIM definitely released the Storm too early based on my experience with it. Don't get me wrong - I love the touch screen and the beautiful display. I just wished it was a little more polished at this point.

i havent heard of this issue...
im thinking you might want to try a device wipe and then re-install .85...
maybe something's 'stuck' somewhere that doesnt get reset with a normal OS upgrade...

Had the same issue this morning. Also running .85. Backlight would not shut off and then couldn't unlock the phone. Battery pull seems to have fixed it, for now.

I had this problem w/ .83... I did a wipe and reinstalled .83 which didn't help.
I think what finally fixed it was removing a browser channel (accuweather).
It was locking up like that daily, but when I removed the channel it didn't lock up for at least 24 hours... then I upgraded to .85 yesterday and it still hasn't happened (and I haven't added the accuweather service back).
It could still be a lurking problem, it was random enough not to know it's truly "fixed"... but this could help...
I am running a pretty stripped phone though - only a couple apps and no Application Center which I found to be useless...

When I first installed .85, all the bugs in .83 were not there. Everything ran very smoothly, but then all of a sudden everything came back. The VZW screen when start up, the unable to unlock, the memory leak, all came back. Seems very odd.

Hmm, .85 seems to be working great for me. I upgraded from .75, so obviously it's not quite as stable, but overall, I've notice a few minor improvements over .75, and .85 also seems to be the most stable of the BETA OS's out there right now from what I've read and experienced.

The only differences I can tell with .85 (from .83) are:
- lock/unlock (using Lock button on top) is a little faster.
- Vibrate Only profile actually works. The phone doesn't make any sounds, in or out of holster.

I am loving .85, overall the OS seems very snappy and functions really well for me. I have not run into the backlight issue yet, however I will keep my eyes peeled.
