Mel, I've got a question for you. In BBalerts, It shows an option that says Notify on missed PIN. I always assumed this would be for BB messenger. I have started using this alot, but BBalerts does not have a repeating alert for this App. Any Chance to add this into the next release?

I have bbalerts set to use a profile, and in the profile I have it set to vibrate. In the bbalerts options I have a color specified for the calender reminder notification.

When a calendar reminder comes up, the led blinks the appropriate color, but there is no vibration. It will vibrate the next time around though (I have alert repeat frequency set to 2 minutes). So it will vibrate on the 2nd 2 minute cycle and subsequent cycles, but not the first one. Also, if I click the trackball when the led first starts blinking, the calendar reminder isn't even up yet. I think the calendar reminder is coming up on the 2nd time around (when the vibrate finally happens). It's as if the led alert is anticipating or suppressing the built-in calendar alert for the first two minutes.

My bb is running OS 4.3.0.97, which is the latest for this model.

SMS is working fine for me.

I will PM you as well but also wanted to post here in case anyone was having similar issues.
BB Alerts handles the reminder (vibrate and LED) but the initial notification is handled by the Blackberry, not by BB Alerts. Okay, I worded that poorly; but the phone is the one that gives the original notification, and immediately after that, BB Alerts kicks in and changes the LED colour and 2 minutes later, vibrates.

To set your initial calendar alert to vibrate, you set that up in your Profiles and edit your Calendar settings for in and out of holster, for each profile that you use.

Default Love This Software

I purchased Webmessenger Message Alerts and could not get it installed after a month and numerous e-mails to Tech Support. This installed with no problem and works as advertised. I'm very happy with it.

I downloaded the trial today and had the same issue. To fix it I had to go into Settings\Options\Advanced Options\Applications then select Blackberry Alerts - edit permissions. I changed all options to allow, rebooted and it worked.
Good luck.

Thanks for the idea. The only things I don't already have set to allow are:
Connections:
Carrier Internet (prompt)

Interactions:
Keystroke Injection (deny)
Browser Filtering (deny)
Screen Capturing (deny)
Security Timer Reset (deny)

I'm not sure that any of these would be related to the SMS notification.

BByMel Software

There is no way to alert only on a specific mailbox though.

i have requested this before; i'm certain that i am not alone when i say this to you:

1) do you reply or address the issues that i or others have emailed to you or "private message[d]" you about?
2) do we have to continue to sift thru a thousand plus threads to know what version we are at? and to know what the changes have been made...if any!
3) do you have a log of changes or a website where your potential and current customers can see?
4) do you plan on one? if so, when?
5) do you have an email list where if bb alerts is updated we are all notified?

you've been developing this product for at least a year now. though it does work at times, the instructions on how to set up bb alerts are worthless. in fact, you need instructions to actually understand the instructions. your product has a lot of potential, but it seems that bb alerts is not on your priority list and as a result the product may not actually achieve its potential . i'm not the first one that has made these requests, and i suspect i may not be the last. please, at least address some of these concerns; if you can, if not make sure you address NUMBER 1 on the list above.
No, you're not technially alone... What you are is:
-in line with the one or two other posts out of the 28 pages here who were too impatient to await a reply, or too lazy to find the answer in the thread
-about the same low post count (one? two? three?) as those one or two other complaints
-dilusional if you think that BByMel is getting rich off the $10 - $15 he charges for this program, and that somehow he owes you a snappy reply

Keep up the good work BByMel!

I've been out of the update scene since v1.60 - had that on there, left it alone until now. I just changed jobs, so I wiped my BB and got it sync'd up with the new company's servers.

To test, I:
-didnt pre-set permsissions
-didnt do a battery pull

It worked great!:
-no errors after load
-allowed me to go right into the controls
-looks like 'rainbow' works good now (but I dont plan to use it)

Now, I just need to get some emails, phone calls, sms, pins, voicemails, and calendar events to further test. I will report my results, but I am optimistic it all works.

Viva la Mel!

Default bigmatty and bbymel

bigmatty,

"What you are is:
-in line with the one or two other posts out of the 28 pages here who were too impatient to await a reply." oh really? you think there are 28 pages because there is only one or two post similar to mine? uhhh...no! about 70% of those pages are technical inquiries. you say i'm impatient? then you should take the initiative (since you say i am too lazy) and see how many posts bbmel hasnt replied to...ever!

"about the same low post count (one? two? three?) as those one or two other complaints."
Would mine and others concerns be more credible if "we" had more of a 'post count?' now why in the world would you make such a bizarre comment? unfortunately bigmatty, i have other things to do besides racking up my 'post count'

"dilusional if you think that BByMel is getting rich off the $10 - $15 he charges for this program, and that somehow he owes you a snappy reply." it never crossed my mind to think about bbymel's wealth. in fact, if he is doing well charging $10-$15 per license--great for him. in fact, i hope he is met with great success. however, it does cross my mind that bbymel rarely if ever replies.

that being said, do some better work BByMel: create a website (that's the least you can do), have a faq, get a changelog for your "updates," have some sort of a manual that all of your consumers can see or download, and more importantly address all of your consumer questions. if not, than direct them to a dedicated faq site or an email--oh yeah and reply to these emails.

Default Suggested enhancement

I've noticed that when the battery is almost dead, there is one blip, very little warning. Don't know if this is possible but if battery could be added to receive repeated alerts when it hits a certain percentage, that would be helpful. Maybe something like 25%, 50%, 75% as options as when the alert should be received. Thanks for your consideration. Love this software!!

>1 - I dont need to answer your questions, nor does anyone else, especially not with your attitude. why on earth would anyone want to assist you? I mean really - what do you bring to the table?

>2 - Yes, if you had a higer post count it would show that you've taken a more active role in this community. If you've helped people in the past, then you are more likely to recieve help. Again though, with your negative attitude - I assume you dont recieve much support from those around you.

>Side note on 2 - I must point out, also, that you say "I have better things to do with my time than rack up posts." I find this funny, because look how long your childish rants are. You actually illustrate that you dont have anything better to do with your time.

>3 - Yes, yes, yes... we all see loud and clear that you are upset that you didnt recieve a timely email for something you clearly feel entitled too. You poor thing - what a mean and unfair world this is! Boo hoo!

>4 (Your ending epiphany) - Hey, buddy, if you want to do it better, go do it. If you want to make a copy of this program, go do it. Then, if you want to post a super-neato change log, and reply to your messages without delay, go for it! If you want to come into BByMel's home here and piss on the rug though - please dont! Please choose to not come here instead. You see, bbf is a community. This particular thread is also a community. We like it here. Others like it here. Your negative vibe is harshing out my trip man...

This program works good for me and havent had complaints. But when I had a different BB model and had issues, BByMel was helpful with getting them solved. That said, just because he doesnt reply back to your email within 5 min's doesnt mean he's ignoring you. Have some will power to wait before bashing him on here, he'll get back to you. I would say tho that bashing him on here wouldnt help you get a response, if it were me anyway.

Hey all, first post here on BBForums, just picked up a 8130 Pearl from Verizon Wireless. I'm running OS v4.3.0.97

I installed this app a few days ago and could not get the SMS notify to work. I need this as I use it for work communication and don't always have my phone right next to me.

The only way I could get SMS to work was to disable my firewall in Options > Security > Firewall and then do a hard reset (remove the battery). For some reason I also have to have voicemail checked for it to work. In the call log when I recieve a SMS it says I have new voicemail. Does not bother me though because I just want my phone to beep if I missed a call or SMS like all my other phones did.

Handango also worked fine with my PayPal. Got my registration key within 5 minutes.

Thanks for this software!
