I am a longtime BES users and just got an 8300. I decided to go ahead and setup my pop account on the device as well, just for the heck of it. I now have 2 different email boxes on my device, as I should, but when I receive email from my pop account, it puts it in both mailboxes on my device. Can this be disabled?

No, this can't really be changed.
The 'Messages' mailbox is a consolidated inbox which collects mail from all accounts linked to your device.
Your BIS accounts will get their own icon, but your BES account can only be in the consolidated box.
