Smile OS: 9500 v4.7.0.111/4.7.0.78 (English + European Languages)

Please Login to Remove!

Software Update for Blackberry 9500

This is for the 9500 model, and will load on any carrier's 9500.

BlackBerry Handheld Storm 9500 Software (EFIGS_Dutch)
Contains English EFIGS means English-French-Italian-German-Spanish

Package Version: 4.7.0.111
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.7.0.78
Software Platform: 4.0.0.98
File name: 9500_omadrmEFIGS_Dutch_PBr4.7.0_rel111_PL4.0.0.98_ A4.7.0.78.ex e
File size: 103 MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download here:
BlackBerry Storm 9500 | BlackBerry-Support | - Vodafone D2 - Hilfe & Support / BlackBerry / BlackBerry-Handhelds / BlackBerry Storm 9500

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9500:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the earlier releases of this OS, see: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...5-english.html

No it wont! the 9530 has few other hardware devices in it. The leaked versions of 9530 did also not work on the 9500

btw Im already running 4.7.0.78 and its running so well now. Accelerometer has become much faster than on the 65.

Installed on Vodafone Spain Storm. Its multilanguage file.

Works like a charm, being a lot responsive, accelerometer and screen rotation is almost inmmediate.

Clicking works faster.

IM apps now work fullscreen since the begining.

Quite a lot of improvements.

I'm glad the device is working much better for you all. Surely you didn't think Vodafone had forgotten about you. There will be more updates to come, so it's only going to get better.

Has anyone on Verizon tried this then? I'm downloading the file now and am just waiting to her if anyone else is getting it to work before I give it a try.

You are braver than I, Wndnsea. If I'm not mistaken, the 9500 is a GSM only phone, where the 9530 is GSM/CDMA phone? Could be wrong, but I'd be afraid to try it and brick it. But you go ahead and let us know how it works out for you! I "upgraded" to the .75 version from .65 and I am most DEFINITELY NOT seeing the improvements everyone else is reporting. Waiting on .76.

I wouldn't call this an act of bravery.

Sorry everyone if I pissed anyone off from asking again. I asked because I saw it in the "other blackberry forum" where people have installed it so I was curious. Even though the 9500 is a GSM only phone, I think people were able to get the radio to select a CDMA network. I'll keep reading around before I actually do this and if I get it to succeed, I'll post what I did here.

if you read through the "other bb forum" you will see that the pic they posted is a fake.

ok.. once again

9500 = GSM radios ONLY
9530 = GSM radios and CDMA radios

They are different devices.

The 9500 software will not work on the 9530 and vice-versa.

And you saw in the other forum that poster was proved wrong. But anyways, not it won't work. SW is device/model specific.

my thoughts on this update:

Most noticable improvement is the lack of lag in the OS:
- scrolling through menus improved a lot
- scrolling through messages improved as well, especially clicking web links in messages (the browser opens up extremely fast)
- scrolling through pictures improved lots
- accelerometer greatly improved, very little lag exists
- browser, huge improvement. I'm starting to use this again. Browser seems a lot faster than on the Javelin now, of course I use EDGE on both devices on Rogers.
- downloading HTML images in messages improved, however I notice that it re-flags the message as unread when it downloads all images.
- screen seems a little more responsive when using the keyboard
- keyboard auto-correct in QWERTY works really well now. If you click on the letter beside the letter you ment to click on it will correct it for you. good job RIM!
