Default Can you use BIS and Desktop Re-director together?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I am considering buying a BB, either a 8310, 8800 or 8820 I was trying to figure out how I could setup my email.

1 work and 1 personal.

work one is LDAP available via the internet, however its policy that we cannot use BIS for this. Personal is gmail.

My thought was that I would setup desktop rediretor on my work PC for work email and BIS for my gmail account.

Is this possible? If it is when I reply will it show the reply-to correctly in each case?

Yes, you can do that. In fact, I am using redirector at work; and Gmail & Yahoo with BIS.

I believe the reply-to would be set correctly.

Thanks thats great news, look forward to the BB experience, just won myself a 8820 of that lovely ebay.

In order to use BIS, do I need any special package on my mobile line? I have a large data package already, is there anything else I need to subscribe to specifically in order to use BIS?

You need to have a special data plan for Blackberry device in order to use BIS push mail.

I never recommend the Redirector option. It is really touchy to use and requires your PC to be on and connected to your email 24x7 if you want to get email. I have everything going to BIS and found that works great for my situation. The 15 min delay causes me no problems.

I have a work phone and I am not allowed to use BIS also the reply earlier says I need a special plan to use BIS, which I do not have, nor I can order. I just have a data plan.

Yes you can I had the same setup. If you access to web access to work you can also use that. I used redirector for a bit also but its a bit quirky.

Now I had some SERIOUS help, I bought the 8820 of ebay picked it up today.

I do not have any documentation, downloaded blackery desktop software and installed that, have re-director running, and did a sync, got my contacts.

1 - The Re-director is not working, it just says Verifying forwarding address and does nothing else, it also says its disabled, don't know why, or how to enable it.

2 - I went to BlackBerry Internet Service and tried to create an account and it tells me that this is already registered and please re-register and use the URL supplied by your service provider.

Is there anything that can help me setup the phone, I am really lost.

Ideally I want to use desktop re-director and BIS (for gmail)

Can anyone point to any guides that might help. PLEASE PLEASE.
