Default Re: os 6.0 how to connect internet through wifi?

some carriers block the WIFI use if you do not have a Blackberry Data plan. Just in case you do, here is the setup

Wi-Fi technology
Depending on your BlackBerry® device model, the Wi-Fi® feature might not be supported.
About connecting to a Wi-Fi network
If you are in a Wi-Fi® coverage area and your wireless service plan supports it, you can connect to a Wi-Fi network so that your BlackBerry®
device uses the Wi-Fi network instead of the mobile network to send and receive email messages, visit web pages, and so on.
You can connect to Wi-Fi networks at home or at work, or to hotspots available in public places, such as libraries, airports, hotels, coffee shops,
and so on. Your wireless service provider might provide an application for your device that allows you to log in to a hotspot. If you do not have
an application on your device, you might have to set up your own account online and log in manually.
If you have a wireless access point or router that uses Wi-Fi Protected Setup™, you can connect to a Wi-Fi network using the Push Button Setup
method or PIN method.
You can save the connection information for a Wi-Fi network in a profile, so that the next time you are within range of that network, your device
connects to it automatically. You can also change the profile so that you are prompted to connect manually. When your device is connected to
a Wi-Fi network, the Wi-Fi profile name appears at the top of the Home screen.
Turn on Wi-Fi technology
1. On the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon.
2. Select the Wi-Fi check box.
To turn off Wi-Fi® technology, clear the Wi-Fi check box.
Connect to a Wi-Fi network
By default, new Wi-Fi® profiles appear at the bottom of your Wi-Fi profile list.
If your email account uses a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, your organization might prevent you from connecting to a Wi-Fi network.
1. On the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon.
2. Click Set Up Wi-Fi Network.
3. Do one of the following:
• Click Scan for Networks. Click a network.
• Click Manually Add Network. Type the network name. Click Add.
4. Complete the instructions on the screen.
5. When you are prompted to save a profile for the Wi-Fi network, click Next so that your BlackBerry device connects to the Wi-Fi network
automatically next time.
6. On the Wi-Fi Setup Complete screen, do any of the following:
• To change the order of your Wi-Fi profiles, click Prioritize Wi-Fi Profiles.
• To complete the Wi-Fi connection setup, click Finish.
To change your Wi-Fi network options later, on the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon. Click Wi-Fi Options.
Connect to a Wi-Fi network using the Push Button Setup method
If you are using a wireless access point or router that is enabled with Wi-Fi Protected Setup™, you can connect to the Wi-Fi® network using
the Push Button Setup method.
1. On the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon.
2. Click Set Up Wi-Fi Network.
3. Click Push Button Setup.
4. Click Next.
5. On your access point or router, press the Wi-Fi Protected Setup button or click the option for Wi-Fi Protected Setup that appears on the
access point administration web page or screen.
6. On your BlackBerry® device, click Done.
7. When you are prompted to save a profile for the Wi-Fi network, click Next so that your device connects to the Wi-Fi network automatically
next time.
8. Click Next.
9. On the Wi-Fi Setup Complete screen, perform any of the following actions:
• To change the order of your Wi-Fi profiles, click Prioritize Wi-Fi Profiles.
• To complete the Wi-Fi connection setup, click Finish.

To change your Wi-Fi network options later, on the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon. Click Wi-Fi Options.
Connect to a Wi-Fi network using the PIN method
If you are using a wireless access point or router that is enabled with Wi-Fi Protected Setup™, you can connect to the Wi-Fi® network using
the PIN method.
1. On the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon.
2. Click Set Up Wi-Fi Network.
3. Click Scan for Networks.
4. Click the access point or router that is enabled with Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
5. In the dialog box that appears, click Next. Your BlackBerry® device creates and displays a PIN.
6. On your access point or router administration screen, type the PIN.

About Wi-Fi profiles
When you connect to a Wi-Fi® network, you can save the connection information in a Wi-Fi profile so that your BlackBerry® device connects
to the Wi-Fi network automatically next time.
The Connection Mode option in a Wi-Fi profile allows you to set whether you want your device to connect to the Wi-Fi network automatically
or to prompt you to connect manually when you are within range of that network.
Your device tries to connect to Wi-Fi networks based on the order in which they appear in your Wi-Fi profile list.
When your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network, the Wi-Fi profile name appears at the top of the Home screen.
Change the order of Wi-Fi profiles

Your BlackBerry® device tries to connect to Wi-Fi® networks based on the order in which they appear in your Wi-Fi profile list.

2. Click Wi-Fi Options.
3. Highlight a Wi-Fi profile.
4. Press the Menu key.
5. Click Move.
6. Click the new location.

2. Click Wi-Fi Options.

4. Press the Menu key.
5. Click Delete.

Prevent your device from connecting to a Wi-Fi network
1. On the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon.
2. Click Wi-Fi Options.
3. Highlight a Wi-Fi® profile.
4. Press the Menu key.
5. Click Disable.

To allow your BlackBerry® device to connect to the Wi-Fi network again, highlight the Wi-Fi® profile and press the Menu key. Click Enable.
Turn off the prompt that appears for hotspots and Wi-Fi networks that you
connect to manually

If a known hotspot requires you to log in manually or if you have saved a Wi-Fi® profile with the Connection Mode option set to Manual, you
can turn off the prompt that appears when one of those networks becomes available. If you turn off the prompt, a red star still appears beside
the Wi-Fi indicator at the top of the Home screen when you are within range.

1. On the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon.
2. Click Wi-Fi Options.
3. Clear the Prompt me when Manual connection or login is required check box.
Advanced Wi-Fi connection settings
Change a Wi-Fi profile
1. On the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon.
2. Click Wi-Fi Options.

You need a BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) data service plan from your phone service provider to use BlackBerry Data features.

Contact your carrier/service provider and ask them for a BlackBerry Data Service (BIS) Plan.

If you are on a corporate BES system the admins may be blocking wifi. In that case you'd have to talk to the BlackBerry admins at your company.
