Is the PIN unique to the phone? If i get a new phone, will i have to redo my bb messenger list?

yes, the PIN is unique to each BB

If you use the Switch Devices wizard in BlackBerry Desktop Software your contacts should be transferred over. You will want to send an email to those that have your PIN to advise them they should change it in your address book entry, however.
