Got a 9700. Wanted the RAM and the new OS and I yielded to temptation. But man is there a lot of crap on here I don't want! I'll have to figure out what's an app and what's a service book and clean up accordingly.

Keeping the 8820 as backup, and for use when/where cameras are banned.

Good luck with your new 9700! Is this a rant or rave? Or maybe you're not sure yet?

Sort of an annoncement, a test, a little rave, and blowing off steam at the carriers.

Right now the text box on the wap forum is a lit
tle dinky thing.
I'm going to have to figure out why and see if it can be corrected.

And there's all the other little things to do to get this the way I want.

So much fun!

Cool

I think it was both

Welcome to the 9700 club! It's definitely my favorite, even if it does put out more radiation than any other phone.

Most of them are Service Books that can be hidden. Your actual apps list is probably tiny.

Yeah. I hid everything I didn't want. And later on ended up in applications and deleted the games and some other stuff I didn't want.

Right now, I wish I could figure out how to make this post reply text box in the wap forum bigger.

Also, I installed Pandora and tested it. I got a DNS error first, then later a 403 can't connect to Pandora error. I'm thinking it's a problem at Pandora?

I checked my TCP settings, but it's already set. It's not wap.voicesteam.com, but epc.tmobile.com. I left it alone. I'll google later and figure out why it's different. 3G related, perhaps? Or something to do with web2go now instead of tzones?

Having a blast.

I've got 3G service here where I'm traveling. I don't know if I'll have it in home town. -- Pretty cool downloading the podcasts without having to use wifi.

I LOVED my 8820. One of the best feeling BB's I've ever held. Very capable device too. I ended up with a Bold 9000, feeling I was missing something by not having a camera, but I rarely used the camera. I guess it was more of a security blanket. You can't argue with the quality of the 88xx series. I'm considering getting an 8830 as a backup now that I'm on Sprint.

I tolerated the 8820. It's been a solid device, but it wasn't comfortable in my hand. I eventually got used to the keyboard, but it was a dissapointment after the 8700.

The wife is going to use the 8820 now, and I'm taking the 8700g back as a backup device, or for use when I need to carry a blackberry without a camera.

Right now I think the 9700 is going to rival the 8700 as my favorite. It's comfortable, and absolutely beautiful to look at. I wish it were a hair bigger so the keys could be bigger, but I think I'll get used to it. Nothing will probably ever be as good as the 8700 keyboard for me, however.

Pandora started working. Only gripe I have now is the message box size on the wap blackberry forums. It's about a half inch by 3/8 inch. I can only see about 3 or 4 words at a time when I'm typing a post. I think I remember this happening in the past with OS upgrades, and somehow it corrected, or I uknowingly did something to change it. But I can't figure it out. I've looked at browser settings over and over, in case I'm missing something, but the page is ok in every other way except for the small size of the text box.

Found a pleasant surprise.

The video podcast from NPR's live concerts feed at NPR: Live Concerts from All Songs Considered Podcast would not play right on my 8820. I would get audio, but not the video track. Just black screen. There have been posts on the forum from people who had such trouble with some mp4 files.

The solution I found at the time was to download on the computer, and convert to the blackberry with media manager. But it took a long time, and we all know the problems with media manager, so I only did it the one time when I was experimenting.

Well, the pleasant surprise, the files play on the 9700 after straight download to the device from the NPR feed. Very, very cool.

I recommend the The Low Anthem performance.
