Car texting kit?
Please Login to Remove!
First off, I'm a very careful driver and I can easily look up and down between gassing and breaking. I often find myself texting and driving and yesterday I ran over a dog. The dog was fine as I was only doing about 60km/h and had nothing more than a broken leg or so. Regardless, the text was important because I would have forgotten to pick up my friend at the gas station.
Is there some kind of car kit that allows me to text while I drive. Thinking along the lines of text-to-speech and vice versa to hear the texts.

Re: Car texting kit?
No matter how good you are, texting or writing email while driving is NOT something you should be doing. Talking on the phone is almost as dangerous.
Nothing more than a broken leg?
No, I will not give you a solution.

Re: Car texting kit?
And yesterday you called people on this thread "retards" and that something was a "stupid response" and you are taking shots at long time forum members.
Then you ask for this.
REALLY?

No message is that important that you must read and respond to it whilst driving. My solution is to pull off the road before managing messages.

Re: Car texting kit?
Holy crap. Please feel free to cross the street in front of my car so I can practice my texting and driving technique. I'm sure you won't mind a broken leg or collapsed lung.

The OP is damn lucky it wasn't a child (or adult) he hit. Maybe he wouldn't be so casual about it. I would not feel sorry for him at all if someone did the same to him. Jacka@@.

Re: Car texting kit?
I'm trying to imagine running over a dog, then having the gall to go online and proclaim my driving bona fides. I can't.
Wouldn't a good driver know where he was going before he left?
Wouldn't a good driver know that texting while driving is against the law?
Wouldn't a good driver manage to avoid mangling an innocent dog?
What did you tell your friend when you picked him up? "Sorry I'm late, just had to make sure the dog I hit was out of my way first."

Re: Car texting kit?
Um, DubDub, talking on a bluetooth or wired handsfree device has been shown by OOIDA studies to be no more dangerous than listening to the radio, or holding a conversation with a passenger, while FMCSA studies have shown that changing the station or a cd on your stereo is just as distracting as texting. I'm sure you've been guilty of one or more of these activities, just like the rest of us. A gentile rebuke is called for here, not the ripping apart of someones actions.

I would highly reccomend turning off your BB while driving, that dog could have easily been a child. Nobody needs that kind of experience on their mind for the rest of their life. I've seen too many decent people make a momentary mistake, and end someone elses life in my 16 year proffesional driving career. Please don't become or make someone else into a statistic.

I have been guilty of doing this on very rare occasions(notice rare). Fortunately, it didn't result in an accident and I have learned to use my bluetooth headset while in transit.
Everyone makes mistakes, this is fact.
However, this guy is admittedly NOT using a bluetooth and repeatedly texting an driving. As you said in your second post, the dog could have been a human and outcome much worse. I cannot help but imagine myself or one of my family on the receiving end of this guys lethal driving practice. Therefore a gentile rebuke is not called for. He gets what is deserved.
