maddman,

I notice you had a 8830 and I guess now the Storm. I have a 8830 and am tired of the browser problems, but for the most part I like it. Is the Storm worth upgrading to? My main problem with the 8830 is that I am ALWAYS having to delete emails and texts because it is running out of space and starts losing things and crashing.

IS there anyway the EDGE to edge problem is related to the RIM problems today. I never had a problem with it berfore just when i upgraded to .99?

Ugh. Verizon needs to hurry with that offficial release. I'm tired of all these leaks and being too scared to upgrade.

I think they're saying search 4.7.0.100 if you have a 9500, if you have a 9530, you're looking for 4.7.0.99.

Both are pretty easy to find out there.

I dont have the edge problem, I am using unlocked Blackberry 9530. My phone kept going to GSM when I had .90 installed. I just did a battery pull and it went back to Edge. So far after having it for 48 hours it is pretty stable, and a little faster than .85

Dont be afraid to try beta software, you always have the option to go back to an earlier release. Just make sure when you flash the phone that you have a check on backup data. I am asuming you are using .76 firmware. I recomend to atleast upgrade to .85 or 86 for increased performance and good stability. I will report later on any glitches that .99 has. So far I am happy and have not had my phone crash yet.

from reviews... .99 seems the best and i the most ive been willing to try. I even went as far as backing up my blackberry (Just through DM if thats correct...?) but was unable to find a download and gave up upon reading steps how to and having to delete different things and override warnings etc etc. lost faith and gave up.

Just to update everybody. I thought that maybe some of the troubles with RIM and carriers yesterday was making the whole EDGE to edge problem for the couple of us worse. I reupgraded to .99 after semi downgrading to a hybrid thanks to JSanders. The problem still exists for us. I will be going back to my hybrid.

Cheers to all this beta works for. I loved it other than my signal issues.

Just load .99 from .75 (with BES) and you won't be disappointed. I've had it loaded for a couple hours with no errors. I also have 3rd party apps that are working great.

- Camera is much much better.

- Media actually deletes from the artist view. Previously, you had to delete every song one by one to delete an album or artist.

- Accelerameter is better, but not quite perfect.

- Overall speed is much faster.

I seem to get reboots randomly when I'm using TwitterBerry. Seems to happen mostly when I'm on the Friends and You page and I lock the phone. Doesn't happen all the time, but more than a few times it would reboot next time I tried to unlock the phone.

if you are verizon then you are fine. If you are using T-mobile or ATT there are few more steps you got to follow. Its very simple

1. download file

2. install the file

3. in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\app loader

there is a file called vendor.xml, you erase that file.

4. inside that folder you will see a program called loader.exe and you double click and the upgrade will begin.

*not sure if you can post download links but use your favorite search engine and look for this

9530AllLang_PBr4.7.0_rel140_PL4.0.0.125_A4.7.0.99. exe

if by any case you want to revert you need to download older firmware, in this case its .75 for you.

1. uninstall the software from add/remove programs in your control pannel.

2. click on app loader and it will inform you that the software is older than the one installed on your phone, revert to previous version.

3. downgrade will begin

i got it installed using the instructions on Crackberry (Which I think were a lot more complicated than they needed to be)

but i never deleted a Vendor file...and the upgrade worked fine for me...do i need to delete that file?

I upgraded to .99 3 days ago and my storm has not made it past 7 hours without completely dying. Got a new free battery from verizon but the problem still exists. I love .99 but if this is the reason for my battery draining so fast I might need to switch back.

rarely you do on beta OS, since no vendor info in the vendor.xml file.

However, it's just a good habit to be in.

So far after 3 days of use .99 seems to work the best for me. However I did have to reinstall Viigo. Only because viigo would not refresh the screen I would always get a blank screen until I went from landscape or portrait or touched the screen then all the articles would show up. After an install of Viigo 3.0.861 all works good now.

The only major complaint so far is the lack of bluetooth audio when watching videos. How I would love to have this back.

Having unmatched luck with this beta. No reboots or crashes. Still have a decent sized memory leak though. I was a fan of the bigger keys in landscape on the previous beta as well. But, other than the typing being a bit less responsive, I have had great luck with this build...(knocking on wood right now).
