use .png files....if you have photoshop or something similar, just save the file as a portable network graphics file...

i personally don't use custom icons on my themes...just because when i add an app, it has it's own icon and won't match...just my $0.02...

True. I pretty much have most of the original icons hidden anyways so they're not really on the screen anyways

over at themes4bb.com they have free icons that i've used in my themes...they are not custom icons, per se, but a nice replacement for the stock icons...take a look at their forum and you can find some free things that are nice...

what program can I use to resize some icon? I have numerous png icons which are 128x128, when I use M/S Office Picture Manager to resize the icons the resolution looks terrible, and sometimes the icons are too big for the themes I am trying to create. Just looking for any advice to resize these icons, and what size do they need to be? Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the info, I dl'd gimp, just a quick question I have some icons which are 128x128 when I attempt to resize them to 48x36 it will not let me, it will either be 48x48 or 36x36, is there a way to customize the size of the icon using gimp, thanks for any help and advice.

Take a default icon 48x36 and remove the image. Save the new blank icon with a new name like icon_blank. Open that icon up and drag your new icon image into that place holder. Save the new icon with a new name (to keep your original blank).
It's a little more work but that is one way of doing it.
