And as the FAQ Midnight provided says, fight the urge to put the battery back in to test. I had the same thing happen to my 9000 and after following the FAQ directions, my device has worked fine ever since.

I have had mixed success with wet phones. Insurance is your friend.

Just make sure you don't put the battery in for a least a couple of days. Putting the battery in 'just to check' if it's working again can make it a lot worse.

Anybody had any success with putting it in a bowl of rice? Resurrected a friend's phone, but I've never had it happen. Supposed to suck up or draw out all the moisture. Does it really work, or just 50/50?

As the link I posted says, bag of rice for 4-5days is effective.

I have only had a device take a swim once. And as part of the provided procedure, I used the "rice trick". After five days of anxiously waiting, I put everything back together and it worked. Not sure if the rice that helped or not, but what's it gonna hurt to try?

Fight the urge to "check" if it powers up. Drop it in a bag of rice, forget it for a week. Get insurance for accidental damage on your next handset.

The insurance is so worth it. If I hadn't gotten it then I would have lost two phones and gotten absolutely nothing back for them. Yeah, I don't see to have good luck with water...

I've been successful several times with the rice method.

The key is to remove the battery immediately, 4-5 days minimum and don't check it at all. Let it sit.

The only one I didn't revive was dropped in salt water and I checked to see how it was going after the first day.

When my 8100 went swimming I dropped it in a bag of rice and put it on top of my DVR. I forgot it there for about a month and ended up getting the 8520 (any excuse for a new phone right?) when I went back to test out the phone when I was cleaning up and now my brothers using it, hasn't had a problem with it yet!
