my blackberry 9780 was in my pocket with my wallet and when i took it out to check bbm my whole screen was white with a few yellow vertical lines so i did a hard reboot then the red led comes on for a few seconds and then the screen turns white.... i think it is a screen problem, btw no water has got into the phone and i didnt bang it anywhere and its the first time its ever happened.. now iv done about 20 hard reboots from cold e.g 20mins - 1 hour intervals still the same outcome

I assume that "in my pocket with my wallet" means a back pocket, which in turn means you may have sat on it at least once.

Given that, it may very well be a screen problem.

That's a hardware issue. You need to get it repaired or replaced.
