Now, all that said, that's how you do it, and how I've done it hundreds of times. There is ALWAYS a chance that your browser may still not work if the Airtel service books are not compatible with your Storm. But, as you have the device in-hand, it's worth trying.

I am wondering if you had a chance to look at the BB Desktop Software v 6.1 to see how to get to the AppLoader when Applications is opened?

Here is what I wrote previously:

I am having trouble at step #3 when downloading the TMobile Service Books. It says:
3. Plug in device and open DM > AppLoader > Add/Remove Programs and work your way through the process to remove the net_rim_bb_browser_daemon module.

When I plug in my BB and open Applications, it just shows the applications that are presently on my BB. It does not show AppLoader or Add /Remove Programs.

Here is what you said: If you click on "Applications" on the main page, you'll open the app loader you need. I'll double check this in the morning.

Yep, thanks, just looked. It's basically the same process.
You open the BlackBerry Desktop Software, click on Applications. Give it time to load in the window and then without clicking any boxes, just click next or finish, to continue, and the process will remove the browser daemon cod.

I am sorry to say that I am having trouble again. I did exactly what you said but there was no "Finish" at the end to click. Just turned back to "Apply."
Because there was no "Finsh" it rebooted with the DM still on. I waited to make sure it had rebooted fully. Turned off DM, and then turned it back on. Now I am looking for: Backup/Restore > Advanced
Under the Device drop down I found Backup as an option and Restore as a separate option, but not consecutively and no Advanced Thus I did not find: the Storm's data and service books on the right .

Can you help? I don't know what to do. Is it possible for you to post or send me a screen shot of what it should look like?

I need the instructions in detail as I am worried I am about to do something wrong since I am not seeing what you say. I am reading and re-reading the instructions before proceeding, but frustrated since the words you say should be there aren't such as "next "and "finish" in step 3. All I had was "apply." And now in step 4 I am not finding Backup/Restore > Advanced.

Please help as soon as possible. I can't use the phone now as it is plugged into the computer and I don't want to disconnect until finished.

OK. Again, those directions were written for Desktop Manager 5.

Yes, Apply is what you needed to click (I had already closed the Desktop Software when I typed the response above with "finish or next", Sorry).

In Desktop Software v6, go to Device > Restore, and you will navigate to and find the specific IPD file you've downloaded with the Tmobile Service books.

I'm here for right now if you have more questions. The problem is my laptop at home I've specifically kept DMv5 on it instead of upgrading to the Desktop Software v6 So I may be doing some of this memory. I'll do my best to remember!

Thank you for being available. I am so happy you are there

Ok, It says "select a backup file to restore your data"
When I look under the "browse" I find the file folder that the ipd is in but it won't open to let me get to the file. It just shows the folder. If that is the one to choose, do I click on "restore"after highlighting it? There is no arrow as you mentioned in the notes and I can't see the BB data and service books on the right.

It isn't a step #. It is what I find when I go to "Device > Restore" That is what it says at the top of the page and then in order to find the specific IPD file I've downloaded with the Tmobile Service books I have to browse for a "backup folder"

Ah, ok. Step 4.

Yes, you select that ipd folder and it will pull the data from within the folder to restore to your BlackBerry. These are the service books within the folder, you won't see the names of them, etc.

There is no right and left window panes in this version, you're doing it right.

(There is ALWAYS the option to load and install DMv5, if you get stuck on this. For now, it appears you're ok.)

Now I have 2 choices for "Select Data to restore:"
1)All device data and settings or
2)Select device data and settings

There is an additional choice under #2 that says:
include files saved on my built in media storage

I see in step 6, I am to plug in my device again. When was I supposed to unplug it? It is still plugged in now on step 4. Should it be?

choose 2) Select device data and settings

uncheck the 'include files saved on my built in media storage', you don't need that for this.

Should my device be plugged in? When does it get unplugged to plug it back in for step 6?

Nope, don't unplug it, so there's nothing to plug back in...

Great!

I am at step 6. Do I need to click (highlight) on the cod to get it to restore? The reason I ask this is that I see there was an update prior that was there but it didn't apply in the earlier time of running the apploader, so I thought maybe I had to click on the thing I wanted to take effect? Yes or no?

Another question: Do I go to the T=Mobile BIS Page log in and resend your service books on my device or on my computer?

No, you don't need to click on anything or add any other updates. In Step 5 you've moved the browser deamon cod back to the correct folder, and now Step 6 only "applies" that, and when it's in the folder again, it knows it and applies it.

I wanted to thank you so much for your help!! You have been so patient. I appreciate your walking me through the steps of using the Desktop Software 6.01 Hopefully this will help others that are as non-informed as I am. You have been wonderful!

I ended up having the service books sent directly to my phone rather than the pc because T-Mobile site was not working. Is that okay?

Just curious, if I did go through the pc, How do I send them from the pc to the device? Do they go through the Desktop Software? Is there a reason you use the pc rather than directly asking for them from your phone?

Thank you again and I will try not to have any more issues for awhile!
