Default Linksys WRT54G and Tmobile Router

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I just bought the 8320 about a month ago because I needed the Wifi connection for my home. I was able to connect to my home router Linksys WRT54G from the first day using my 8320 with usually a steady connection but noticed for about the past 2 weeks I have been unable to get a steady UMA connection for long. After getting tired of power cycling the device every 2 minutes to reestablish a UMA connection, I purchased the Tmobile router and now have it connected to my existing Linksys WRT54G home router with my Tmobile being solely dedicated to my BB, while the WRT54G handles my computer and Xbox 360 connection.

My BB connection is great now, without dropping calls or having to power cycle off and on, but is having both routers an overkill? Can I get by with using just one? Am I doing any internal damage to the routers having them connected to each other? I changed the IP addresses as stated in the manual when connecting two seperate routers.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8100: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I know you aren't doing any internal damage to the routers by having this type of configuration. I say if it is working then leave it be.

Did you have the latest firmware on the WRT54G? I run a WRT54G and used to have the latest firmware and it worked ok. However, I now run dd-wrt on it, boosted the power and made the adjustments as recommended by people here and now have a rock solid UMA signal in my house, garage, driveway, front yard and backyard. I can't hardly get it to drop.

Thanks.. I'm going to look into the threads and find out about the latest firmware update and see if that works. I have 14 days to try out the tmobile router before I have to keep it or get my 89 dollars back, so needless to say I'm going to try everything these next few days.

Heck, give the dd-wrt a try, if you're industrious. I did it and it's great. Check your version on the label on the bottom of the router, though, as some of the later versions can't be flashed with dd-wrt. I have an older one and it works awesome.
