Default BB lost connection when arriving into another country...

Please Login to Remove!

been searching BB support just trying to get the right words...

when a user has arrived into another country and their BB stops receiving emails this is generally to do with the mobile network and issues auto picking the local provider isnt it? So to fix this is to manually set to local provider then back to auto?

It is a carrier issue, it's not neccessarily a situation that the device can solve though, sometimes it's something that the home carrier has to fix or look into.

Exactly, it's a carrier issue. You gotta check if you got the roaming option. And maybe update your prl (Preferred Roaming List) on the Blackberry.

If you're on Verizon, probably need to call global support. Most likely they need to enable GSM roaming. Happened to me when I was roaming in other countries. It's kind of annoying. At least the call is free. If you're on another carrier, probably don't have the global roaming package.

It may even be worth just doing a manual search for networks and selecting a different one. Happened to us once with a user traveling to Hong Kong, the phone picked up a network just fine and could make/receive calls but no BB connection, manually changing the network fixed it.

Yeah what DavidAdams says happens a lot when our UK (Vodafone) users travel. when set to auto, in theory the phone should jump on to the network which is partnered to the home network if it can see one but if another (non-partner) is a lot stronger and the phone is set to auto, it will jump to it.

We make sure our guys who travel have the link to the home carrier's pages about travelling, which lists the preferred network for all countries. For most UK carriers, those same pages show the user how to set most device into manual, so they can select the network. Frequent flyers have a hard copy of this info in their bag so they don't get stuck.
