My server guy got everything installed and using defaults. I am the first in the company trying to ues BES. When I enter enterprise server activation on the BB and enter the information it tries to connect forever and ends up not connecting. I have searched and ran thru various threads but I am not able to get this working. I do have the RIM email in my outlook inbox and have not changed or modified it at all. BES is not installed on my exchange server but a secondary server ( i have 5 servers) I am on Windows Server 2003 r2.
I do still have my work email receiving to the phone thru standard email setup on the BB. Do I need to remove that email setup before I run activation?
Here are a few questions:
What do I enter in at the Activation Server Address? Is it the name of my exchange server or an IP address?
Is the password the password set in BES or my exchange password?
the password is the activation password you've set as your ea password on the bes for your account, usually expires in 48 hours,
the first and most important thing i'd check is that your blackberry has the enterprise data plan, not the consumer dataplan, there's usually a £20 price difference.
Hopefully the above docs helped you but a common mistake with the newer wi-fi enabled phones (which fits your scenario) is that you try to activate before a good cellular connection is made to the carrier and RIM (something like EDGE, GPRS, 3G etc should be shown in upper case) so the BB tries to activate using wi-fi. Make sure wi-fi is off and you have the upper-case connection indication.
