Default Text in a Phone Number Field

Is it possible to somehow put text into the beginning of a phone number field but in such a way that it is ignored when sending a text AND dialling their number?
For example, in the Mobile field like this Mobile:MUM 01234 567890 which it allows but means you cannot send a text as it treats the name as*part of the number. I even tried brackets but that didn't help. If the name is AFTER the number it is not visible in the list when you need to select it to send an SMS.
I do not really want to resort to re-writing my entire address book to make separate entries for each member of a household, so I'm hoping there is an easier way...

Any help much appreciated.

In my opinion, the "easier way" would be to use the address book as intended and have separate entries for each individual.
Your usability style is what's making things complicated for you.

I don't see a way for you to accomplish what you're looking to do on the BlackBerry. But, quite honestly, I've never heard of anyone trying to do what you want to do... so I've not researched this very much.

The only way I think that would work is maybe if you disable smart dialing. Have you tried that?

Thanks for the replies. I've found the "Country Code: +44" and the "National Number Length: 10" but there doesn't seem to be a way of switching Smart Dialling on or off.
