Default I Hate My Voice Dialer

Please Login to Remove!

I liked my last phone. It recorded my voice when I said the names in my address book, and understood me without fail everytime I voice dialed.
On my 8320, I have to say, "Call (for example) Ted Kennedy" Then it always says, "Did you say...Call bloop bloopdebloopblop?" I never have any idea whether it has the right number, and have to try to guess based on the number of syllables. I hate it. Any way I can fix it?

In any case, in your example, the BlackBerry will only repeat back back to you names which are in your Address Book. It doesn't make up indiscernible syllables. I don't think the VAD is a fully working feature, I deleted it off my device and know many who have done so also.

In your other phone, it used what is called voice tags, wherein it actually matched your spoken name the voice tag on file in the phone, matched it and you were good to go. The BB uses a different technology.

I removed mine. Its faster just to speed dial or dial from my address book. I hate voice dialing.

I have sprint w/ voice tags but come this monday goodbye nextel hello TMO.
I may delete VAD from the CrackMem application prior to running the DM with new OS.

If I decide to install VAD at a later date what should I do?

Let me see if I can answer this without any experience as of yet. Still need your advice.
I would run DM and see is VAD is still on the PC as an application and check box to download to device
If it is not there, then I would not use CrackMem to delete but download OS which VAD will be part of that download. Then afterwards run DM to remove.

Since I'm a Chinese user, I just deleted it right after getting my 8320.
The easiest way to delete VAD is probably to get on berrycode.com by your BB, and D/L the app called "Maxmem." There's an option to delete VAD.

There is a link in my signature to optimize your BB's memory. It decribes how to remove VAD

Interesting. I've never had problems with VAD on the BB. I guess it's a YMMV thing...

I use VAD with my Bluetooth headset all the time and it works fine. I just speak a little slower when I say the name. Will vlingo still work if you delete the VAD and voicenotes?

I tried using VAD for a while, but so many of my contacts have multiple phone numbers that the sequence got too long to just make a call. Removed the app completely.

Default BB VAD pretty lame

While the VAD on my BB actually works pretty well, I really do not like it. The PLAYBACK of the name is extremely poor quality. Although I generally hate all things Microsoft, I must say that their VAD software is outstanding.

Since BB never really improves or enhances any of their applications, I suspect that we will have this lame VAD for a long time to come.

Why do you generally hate all things Microsoft? Without them we never would have gotten to the point where you're sitting right now, looking at this screen.

I would suggest trying out vlingo. I've been playing with it and I would say it's worth a shot for a VAD replacement.
