Default Battery Problems with 9300?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got a 9300 about a week ago and the battery life is pretty poor. After having it off the charger for a few hours and very little use my battery is down to about 40-50%. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm thinking because its an HSPA device that may be part of the problem. Just wondering if anyone else may have some thoughts on this. Thanks

Are you in a fringe area where it is constantly cycling between 2G and 3G looking for a better signal?

Do you have any data intensive apps open?

Wireless and bluetooth always on?

Runaway apps do it too (to any BB). If you pull the battery, put it back in, charge it to full, then see how it does. If it works fine, then it's an app. If it doesn't, then look into some of the other culprits that were posted above

I am assuming you are right. Any possibility it could be due to an early OS?

My girlfriend gets great battery life as well. She has one of the extended batteries though from BlackBerry 9300 Accessories. I think you have to make sure you turn off all external apps in order to maximize your battery life. Also, try fully charging it at one time instead of brief charges. Hope you figure it out!

I'm having the exact same problem as deled10

I bought 9300 curve like a week ago and
I charged it for like 10 hours straight to get it full
but when i brought it to school, the back of the battery
was like burning -_- and it only lasted for like 5 to 6 hours
and it shut off.

I closed and turned off every apps except SMS and MSN
i had it silent and the backlight is only 20% which should save the battery.

Can anyone explain why this is happening

Who is your cell carrier? Are you in a fringe area for signal reception? Is the device constantly searching for a signal?

Having just made the change from a Storm 9530 to the Curve 3G 9300, i've found my curve has pretty exceptional battery life.

I have a new Keppler too. I think it is a good battery life. Having it charged at night before, and it lasted for 1.5 days normal usage. Here the signal frequently switching from EDGE to 3G as well. You can do such things to improve the battery life, ex: backlight setting, auto on-off, weekly soft-reset, etc.

@ daled10 and kky611, i think you should contact your seller about this. Maybe there was a problem with the pre-loaded battery. Good luck.

maybe the connector on your blackberry is the problem, if not try a new usb cable or wall charger. it doesnt sound like a battery problem.
