Help with Verizon 8530 screen turning black after ending a call.

On my Verizon 8530 (V5.0.0.337), the screen would turn to black after ending a call. This happens about 1 out of 10 calls. Ofcourse Verizon just tells me to go in to the store to exchange for a new phone. I do not want to do that if the problem is within the software and the way to fix it is via a patch. In addition, when I call in to automated services and asked to type in a number to select a function, I hear the key tone for about 3 seconds (as if a key or button is stuck and or sticky). Does anyone have this issue pop up? Would appreicate any help. Many thanks in advance.
