For testing I am trying a spare SBE SRP i have and that quite happily allows me to upgrade the 4.1.4 SBE, accepting all keys. Can't say any more as I currently can't get into the Admin console to look.

Given the number of users I have and the cost of the upgrade I can't see it happening. There is an element of "it's not broken so don't fix it" with iour current setup.

I am trying to upgrade BPS 4.1.4.15 in a test enviornment to BES 5.0, however I receive a prompt saysing "To continue upgrading to a full Blackberry Enterprise Server, type your Trade-Up Key"

When I enter my 90 day trial key for for BES I get a message:

"The trade-up key is not valid"

Did you experience this? If so, how did you get around it?

Thx
I just tested on a new install. As I don't use the SRP keys for production I always bring up a new VM to test things in.

Is there going to be a BES 5.0 Express edition like there was with 4.1? I have 4.1.6 with 6 users and it would make no sense to pay that much money for BES 5.0. To get my current setup I downloaded BES Express with one free CAL and paid $99 each for the other 5 CALs. Is there going to be something similar for 5.0 or am I stuck with 4.1 unless I pay a couple thousand dollars?

(Note: this is not BPS, this is the full BES product that is limited to 15 users)

If you want to upgrade, I think the best way to do it is by purchasing a T-Support contract. I think you are located in the States and the T-Support model and pricing there is slightly different to here in the UK. But I was in a similar position to you - I purchased T-Support. I purchased Tx2 - but even Tx1 would cover the upgrade. With the Tx1 and 6 users you would pay roughly £350 for the upgrade...

Who do you contact to buy Tsupport to upgrade to BES 5? Also what does that upgrade cost?

With a T-Support contract upgrades are free. You contact your local BlackBerry sales office:

Whats the minimum amount of support can you buy to get free upgrades? Or does any level count?

Not sure of the US - as it has changed recently. As I said in my previous post, in the UK even Tx1 - the lowest level of support you can buy gives you free upgrades.

Unless you have a lot of hanhelds, TSupport (Tx1 or greater) often comes out to be less than a one time server upgrade.

$499/server + $19/handheld (Tx1)
versus
$999/server (one-time upgrade)

We're at Tx2 since we needed 3 callers for one server with about 40 handhelds and it is totally worth it IMHO even for this small business.
1. phone support.
2. upgrades included.
3. having RIM on speaker phone while I perform the BES upgrade plus helping me to test it afterwards cannot be understated. ++

Do you know the specifics on how they would have accomplished this? Do you have to tell RIM you want to upgrade BPS to BES 5.0, so they know to give you a trade up key?

Call them and get a quote on it. Old tsupport had upgrades as part of it. The new USA version has been changed.(go figure) They use your SRP on the quote. If you buy it, the SRP is upgraded or replaced by a new one.

I don't have any information to give you about the specifics of accomplishing this, but I would guess that if you (like many others, including myself) installed BPS on top of a SBS Exchange server that you should also plan on migrating to a separate server machine as well. At least that is what I have been thinking is a likely requirement if I move away from BPS.
