Default 8230 Curve vs 8820 on TMO

Please Login to Remove!

Just got the boss to say yes for my first BB. TMO subscriber - and they have promo for both models.

Any suggestions or comments of one over the other model? 8820 is newer, more costly but no camera (which is not important for me).

I have old iMac g4 running 10.4.9 and overdue for new laptop - waiting for new MBA later this year.

Thanks

Congrat's on getting the company to spring for your BB! If you plan on using your BB as a modem you cant connect using the 8230, I have one and I cant get it to stay connected using my Macbook.

If you are running Bootcamp or Fuzion to run windows on Mac OS you can still connect using the Desktop Manager and configuring the modem. IMO purchase the 8820 and try it out, I use the 8800 on TMO and I can get the BT connection and use my internet on the go not the fastest but works in a pinch and I dont have to pay the common traveling internet fees.

Hope this helps.......

I'm still in stone age...absolutely no plans to use BB as modem

Most important usage will be when overseas and no access to laptop to check/work emails...had Treo 600 and finally eBayed it last week.

Btw, just placed order for 8820 - got 20 days to test out and if don't like it, will try 8320. Thanks!

BB 8820 arrived Friday, set up was relatively easy for newbie. Email works, although still can't figure out how to stop getting a 'confirmation' that email was sent message.

Got wifi connections up in my home, in my office and UMA up/running. Even turned off mobile network and still able to dial out calls

Downloaded demo version of The Missing Sync from apple.com, 14 day trial. Successful sync of address book and calendar - wow, giant step forward.

Waiting for 1 gb sandisk micro SD via eBay to sync pictures and a few tunes.

I'm sure there's plenty more to learn but now it's time to play with wife's new unlocked iPhone and figure out the ins/outs for her. i much prefer sticking with apple platform but this BB for staying in constant email contact is fabulous. Will be great help when working overseas....not need to turn on laptop every few hours.
