Default buying a BB pearl 8130 and gmail

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,
I am going to go buy my first BB tomorrow because i have been having problems with the mobile device I have now. Currently the mobile device i have will not let me download my email onto it, i can only view the mail online. The problem with this is once i read them i can not get them onto my laptop.

My domain is set to use the google mail servers. When I access my email on the gmail servers using my mobile device with POP3, even thought my mobile device is set to leave a copy on the server, gmail will move the email to the folder "all mail". Later, when i check with Outlook to get all my mail on my PC, there is nothing in the inbox.

I tried the settings in gmail to 'leave a copy in the inbox' but once accessed by one pop3 device all emails seem to no longer visible to a second. (marked as 'read' perhaps?) I can go to gmail using a browser, and see them in the inbox. Then when checking a second time with either Outlook or mobile email, they are not seen by POP3, even though they are still in the inbox.

I need to have all email go to my PC, regardless of whether I have viewed a message using the mobile device.

I am hoping that by getting the BB it will solve this problem by either

1. when i download it onto my bb that a downloadable copy will stay on the server

or

2. I will be able to sync my BB with outlook and move the down loaded email onto my pc. Now the sales guy at Verizon said that i could not sink my BB mail with my laptops Outlook mail. he said contacts and calendar I could. Is this true about the mail part?

Hope someone can help this me being new to all this.

On my 8100, even if I read an email on my phone from my gmail account, it comes up as unread when I login on a computer... I haven't changed any settings, so it is possible on a blackberry to keep your email on your account :P
I'm not sure about the outlook though, I rarely use outlook

there are 2 ways to get gmail work on blackberry. one is BIS push which instantly notifies you. and the second one is gmail app which may have a little better look and more gmail friendly but its not push.

i just use the push, works fine for me
