* Issue Summary:

As a frequent traveler, I now have a US BlackBerry 8830 (from Sprint) and a UK Blackberry 8310 from Vodafone (for cheaper calling in country).

I have installed the Gmail App as well as the Google Mobile App onto my US Blackberry 8830 WorldPhone. Both of these apps seem to function perfectly.

There is no BES service on the 8830 device and if I go to the generic "Messages" application supplied with the Blackberry, the only messages I see in there are SMS text messages at present.

On my other device - a UK supplied Blackberry 8310 Curve that does have BES service, I remember once installing a Google mail app that gave me the option of managing my Gmail messages inside of the native Blackberry "Messages" app. This had the effect of causing my Gmail messages to co-mingle with my corporate BES-delivered emails *within* the native "Messages" app.

I would like to have my Gmail messages appear in and be managed from the generic Blackberry Messages app (as I described above). Does anyone know how to do that on my 8830?

You need to add your Gmail account to your BIS accounts. You can do that on the device with the Setup Internet Mail wizard, or through your carrier's setup email accounts page.

Gmail should have a decent walkthrough on their site (if I remember correctly) in the event you need to modify any settings.

I would strongly suggest enabling IMAP access on your Gmail account, as it works very well with the BlackBerry.

Embarrassed to say that I have run into an issue already: There is no icon on my BB for "Setup Internet Mail Account". Cab you expand on that?

Secondly, how do I enable IMAP access with my Google account?

Make sure the icon isn't hidden somewhere - make sure to choose "Show All" on your homescreen, and check any folders as well.

You may be able to get where you need to go through Setup WIzard, too.

On my T-Mobile phone, I also have a shortcut to a carrier provided WAP browser, which will get me to the right website.

You basically want to get at the BIS setup pages for Sprint. It's been a long time since I was on Sprint, so I'm not sure how their system is set up.

As for Gmail IMAP, click Settings and go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab - Enable IMAP is at the bottom of the page.
