I'm surprised to see continued development in the 4.1 codestream. I've been planning to upgrade my 4.1.3.19 BES forever, and was all ready for 4.1.6.55, thinking that was going to be the last!

Is there a document that lists what's new btwn 4.1.6 and 4.1.7? Just trying to figure out why someone would go from 4.1.6 this this, rather then to 5.0.

Looks to be just a bunch of fixes from the release notes.

Why goto BES 5.0 when most of its features are not available with most current devices.
BAS is slow, clunky and not like BBManager with a nice list.
BES 5.0 is a resource hog and requires better hardware.
So much more to config in BES 5.0 to get running.
So if you are a small shop it does not make sense yet unless the new control, roles, apps pushing, webadmin interface features are worth it.
Cost might be an issue if not on T support.
YMMV.

OS 5.0 is being released now. Verizon has started it, expect to see others very soon.
BES 5.0.1 works much better and includes some of the right click functionality of BBMgr.
BES 5.0 has built in HA, no more locking out SRP, or worrying about stopping services, etc.
Exchange 2010 support coming in BES 5.0 soon after official release by MSFT and RIM service packs.
EAL 4+ certification
No installation of software on remote machines, just an internal website.

BES 4.1 and BES 5.0 are different lines of product.
you can stick to the 4.1 line and use the respective upgrades if you dont prefer to move on to 5

Hmm, if you look at the release notes of 4.1.7 you see the errors that are fixed with SP7, but I am not too impressed. The list of known issues is much longer...

The known issue's list is like 4x's as long as the fixed issue list

I guess I'll schedule this whenever.. Or I'll just upgrade to BES 5.0

I'm in the mist of talking with other wireless carriers to change so I might be getting all new devices 9630 or 8350i's so OS 5.0 might be around the corner for me...
